MESSAGE FROM FRED HUDSON, Chair, Albemarle County Democratic Committee
As you know, the Butler Scholarship Gala was on September 30, and a good crowd gathered to celebrate the scholarship program and provide funding for the next round of scholarship grants next spring, Everyone seemed to have a very good time. Secretary of Administration Viola Baskerville was the “keynote” speaker and she was very well received. It was a very good event and to those who were not there. . . the good news. We will be doing it again as the repeated phrase to describe the scholarship program was . . . “an institution”. You will know when the next scholarship event will be.

The polls are coming in now. Recently, there was a poll for Al Weed showing a big shift in voter interest in the southern part of the 5th District. That is clearly good news for the candidate as well as all Democrats. Goode is vulnerable due to his careless way of handling his responsibilities and it is important for Albemarle County to do its share to deliver the vote that we know we can. I hope that you can share your time with us over the next month to assist in the various projects that occur. All you have to do is call Cheryl at 296 1865, and tell her you are ready to help. There are projects that fit anyone’s criteria, and I know that you would enjoy giving a bit of your time to ensuring victory.

Over the last weekend in September, a poll reflected that Webb and Allen were tied in their bid for the US Senate. Jim Webb is closing the gap, and we can win this one. We are talking about contributing to the “take back” of the House and/or the Senate. Virginia this year will be important in that contribution as we have good candidates in most of the Congressional District races, and of course, in the Senate race as well. But we have to vote and do what we can to get others to the polls as well. I hope you can help.

October will be a pivotal month in the campaign, and I assure you that your County Party will do everything it can to carry the County for Webb and Weed. Thank you for your help, and I hope to see you soon.

Fred
