MESSAGE FROM FRED HUDSON, Chair, Albemarle County Democratic Committee

Happily, I am able to report to you a very successful training session on the 18th. It was well attended (about 40), and everyone seemed to enjoy the session very much. Many of the officers of the committee were speaker-trainers and they did a very good job. . . as you would expect! The information provided was very helpful, and in my opinion, was quite a bit to digest. But it was the first session in what will hopefully become an annual event. I hope to see others there next year.

The campaign season is now upon us, and we will begin the productive exercise of voter contact on July 7. It should be a very good session, and I know that there are a good number of people ready to talk to voters. It is a very productive thing to do, and we certainly have shown that we do it very well! I hope that you will come out and enjoy the Saturday morning with us. We will start at 9:30 and we will end by noon . The process is not a lot of time commitment, but it is very worthwhile in terms of voter education, and getting ready for Election Day. We have a group of terrific candidates, who need our help, and I know that many of you are ready to “pitch in”. So Saturday morning, the 7th is a good time to start!

Coming up are the County Fair during the first week of August, and of course, the annual BBQ. I hope you will come out to both. At the Fair, be sure to stop by and say hello. We will have a “booth” there, and it will have good Democrats and campaign literature there. The BBQ will be on August 25th, at Ashlawn. The BBQ this year will be something with the new venue and it should be a great night. There will be wonderful food, a “blue grass” group for entertainment, and Ashlawn itself will be open to all attendees. You have grown to expect good food and good fun, and I believe that we can promise you both this year. Please come on out and support our candidates. There will be plenty more on the BBQ before it starts!

Thank goodness it is time to start the campaign. So now, let’s set about taking back the House and Senate! We have shown that our effort contributes greatly to the statewide totals, and we can certainly do it again. I look forward to working with you in July and onward. Remember, for us, the campaign begins on July 7!

Fred

P.S. Save the Date: BBQ on August 25th at Ash Lawn. It will truly be an exciting event!
