MESSAGE FROM FRED HUDSON, Chair, Albemarle County Democratic Committee

As we come out of the winter season, things are looking very bright for
the Albemarle Democrats this year. As you know, the local and State
legislature races are the ones that will occupy our attention over the next several
months. I can tell you now that we have a wonderful group of candidates who
are intent on their races and a few that are still considering. We are going
to have a good campaign season, and there will be much to do. I hope that
you can spend some time assisting the candidate group to achieve their goal
and I can assure you that your Democratic Party will be supporting them to our
capability. More on this subject next month.
Along that same line, we have a series of events for which you will want to “
save the date”. We have the nominating caucus on May 14 and you will be
getting more information on that as the day draws nearer. Participation is
important so that you can be a part of choosing your nominee for the Election.
Yes, it is important. . . the broader the range of voters in the caucus, the
better our choice for the candidate is who will be our representative. Please
plan to come.
Also, the 5th Congressional District Democratic Committee is having their
annual dinner on April 12th. Gov. Mark Warner will be the speaker this year,
and that makes it special enough. But the venue has seating only for 288
people, so I believe that in addition to receiving a very good dinner, you will
also be in a small enough group of people to really have a chance to shake the
Governor’s hand and speak to him. It should be a special night, and full of
good times and some political “give and take”. More information will be
coming, but if you would like to go, just give me a call or call the
Democratic Office at 296 1865. Either place can handle your request, for sure. The
tickets are $40, and we are arranging a bus so that you will not have to drive.
We take both Visa and MasterCard to make it easier. I hope to hear from
you soon, as the tickets are limited, and the demand will be strong.
As you can see there are some good things coming, and I am excited about
this year. I look forward to seeing you soon at one event or another. We had
another good year last year, and now we need to start concentrating on being
prepared to continue our “winning ways” in Albemarle County!
Fred
