I have been asked over the last several weeks by several to find out how they can voice their opinion concerning the budget issues as they relate to our schools in the County. The following is the best solution to those concerned. While the tax rate is the point being more loudly discussed, the distribution of the revenues of the County will be a political decision made by the Board of Supervisors. In the following message, you can sign a petition to support the county schools along the lines requested by the School Board. It will be presented to the Board of Supervisors on April 4, so if you wish to indicate your support, you should act quickly.

The Albemarle County Public Schools PTOs and Parent Council have placed a petition on the internet offering a way for individuals to support the 2007-2008 School Board’s funding request. This petition will be presented to the Board of Supervisors by the PTOs at the Pubic Hearing on Wednesday, April 4th at 6:00 in the Albemarle County Office Building’s Lane Auditorium.

Thanks! I know that your school board representative would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Ones that I know you would get a very good response and explanation from are John Stokes from Samuel Miller, Diantha McKeel from Jack Jouett, Steve Koleszar from Scottsville, Brian Wheeler is the at-large member and Sue Friedman from Rivanna. They are always happy to answer any questions or concerns regarding schools, funding and education in Albemarle County!

Fred
