     To: Albemarle County Democrats

 From: Shirley Copeland, Corresponding Secretary
            Albemarle County Democratic Committee

MESSAGE FROM FRED HUDSON, Chair, Albemarle County Democratic Committee:

  JOIN THE COMMITTEE TODAY!
All you have to do is go to the website, www.albemarledems.org, and get the application. We would appreciate the contribution of $25.00, but if you are unable to do that, send the application in anyway. Just drop the application and your check in the mail to ACDP, P.O. Box 586, Charlottesville, VA 22902. By doing that, you can participate in building your Party and help to continue the "blueing" of Albemarle County and the rest of the Commonwealth.

To say the least, the campaign is "heating up" at this point. There have been volunteers from Albemarle County going all over the place
(Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire, to name a few) to help the candidate of their choice with the primary campaigns underway in a particular state. That kind of energy and excitement reflects the many good things that can happen to us as the Democratic Party in the upcoming election. It is a very politically charged time, and I hope that everyone
will engage in the campaign in the way of their choice this year. If we did not appreciate it before, every vote does count, and every election is very important to the direction of our government. And it does make a difference who wins!

We start the process on February 12th in Virginia with our primary. It should be exciting as Virginia is expected to be “in play” at that time, so we should be seeing many of the candidates visiting us and getting to know us
in person. It has been a long four years since the kind of interest that we are seeing has occurred, and it is such fun to have the Virginia Primary in just a few days. So let's get to February 12th: . .

  MAKE THE PRIMARY COUNT!

As I noted in an earlier message, we hope to come out of the Virginia Presidential Primary on February 12 with the right candidate to carry the Commonwealth as well as the Country in November. Please help make this happen by voting in the Primary. I also ask everyone who turns out for
the Primary to take a minute to stop by the Democratic Party table outside their polling place and sign the Mark Warner for Senate petitions to place his name on the June Senatorial Primary and also to sign up as a volunteer for the fall campaigns. We are on the verge of a great success this year, but only if we continue to build up our base and get out the vote. Please consider what you can do to help.

Just to let you know as quickly as I can, this year the National Democratic Convention is being held that last week in August. Historically, we have had the BBQ that last weekend in September, but that will be the final night of the convention, and I am sure that most of us will have nominee on our minds rather than BBQ.
So we will be moving the big event of our party a couple of weeks later in the fall. You will, of course, hear much, much more about this as we get a bit closer, but I wanted to take this opportunity and let you know what was going on.

Please go to the website, www.albemarledems.org, and locate the “tab” that says Volunteer Sign up. Complete the form and send it in to ACDP, P.O. Box 586, Charlottesville, VA. 22902. We will make a quick call to determine how you would like to help in this important year, and then we will get started. I have also attached the "form" to this note, so you can just fill it out, and return it over the internet, if that is easier for you.

Thank you for your help and your support. It should be a wonderful year, but only if we all “pitch in” and do what we can to “bring home” the victory.

 Fred
