MESSAGE FROM FRED HUDSON, Chair, Albemarle County Democratic Committee:
HAPPY “BLUE” NEW YEAR!
While I am sure that I will not be the first to express it to you, but the Officers of your County Party want to extend the very Happiest of New Year greetings to each one of you. 2008 will be an exciting year to be a Democrat. Many of us have waited very impatiently for the elections this year, and we have, as a party, done what we could to be prepared! We had a terrific year last year with some outstanding candidates and we were able to lend our assistance to their very committed campaigns. The first mission in the preparing for an election is the candidate selection, and we were fortunate to have some excellent people step forward and make the run. We had some very good results, but unfortunately, not all were elected, but that does not diminish their quality as candidates. Now, with the Primary season well underway, we will be participating in the Virginia Presidential Primary on February 12. What a day that should be! And hopefully, we
will come out of our own primary as well as the other primaries and caucuses with the right candidate to carry the Democratic message to the Commonwealth as well as the Country.
Last month, to prepare for the campaign of 2008, your County Party reorganized itself, and elected officers. We have many returning for the term, and we have some new officers as well. I would like to welcome Cynthia Neff and Haike Giragosian who were elected for the first time as officers for this term. They are both fine people, committed Democrats, and will provide great energy to the campaign effort that will be getting underway soon. We also are in the process of establishing the Committee for 2008, and you really should be a part of that. It gives good support to the process of your party, and requires from you only that which you would like to give. So, please. . .
JOIN THE COMMITTEE TODAY!
All you have to do is go to the website, www.albemarledems.org, and get the application. We would appreciate the contribution of $25.00, but if you are unable to do that, send the application in anyway. Just drop the application and your check in the mail to ACDP, P.O. Box 586, Charlottesville, VA 22902. By doing that, you can participate in building your Party and help to continue the "blueing" of Albemarle County and the rest of the Commonwealth.
It is going to be a busy year, and the opportunities that we have before us are considerable. Together we can accomplish some very good things. But we can only accomplish what we want by working together. Please join the committee, and then please participate in the various activities of the campaign season when the "call" goes out as we continue to turn the area an ever darker shade of BLUE!
Thank you for your support in the past, and I look forward to working with you in 2008.
Fred
