Hello Friends and family,
  I am emailing you a list of items needed for donation for wounded evacuated soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I am the leader of a second grade Brownie troop 145 at Baker Butler Elementary School . Our community service project is to gather these donations. We received an email requesting items at Christmas and decided that we would make this our goal for spring. The kids are teaming up with Head Coach Dave Leitao of UVA Basketball to raise awareness of this need. Coach Leitao and his team visited the hospital this past season and he was deeply moved by these brave soldiers. The girls got to meet with coach at JPJ and they have been feature in the Daily Progress with him on April 16th. They will also be in there this week.
  Many of these soldiers have been evacuated with severe injuries and are recovering at WRAMC. They often times leave all of their belongings behind in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We are asking for donations from individuals, groups,corporations,churches, and organizations to make this project a success.
  Commander John Chui from National Ground Intelligence Center has received Government approval for soldiers to come down with any vehicles necessary to transport our donations .All we have to do is collect them. He will also be leaving for Iraq on June 10th. We will be taking Donations every morning June 4-8 at Baker Butler in front of the school , you may also drop them at the Girl Scout Center off of Greenbrier Drive Any time it is open , and we will be manning the Girl Scout Center On Saturday June 9th From 10am.-4pm.  
The list of comfort items is as follows
  a.. International phone cards 500-800 minutes
  b.. Electric or traditional razors
  c.. Slide on slippers or shoes
  d.. Athletic Shoes
  e.. Gas Cards
  f.. Grocery/Restaurant/Retail Gift Cards ( National Chains)
  g.. Umbrellas
  h.. Cds and Dvds (these can be used)
  i.. Soaps/Cologne/shaving cream/toiletries (Feminine products for female soldiers)
  j.. Loose fitting sweats or pants with snaps ect. down the leg
  k.. Stationary items and stamps
  l.. food treats must be prepackaged and non perishable
PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY BUT RATHER A GIFT CARD OF YOUR CHOICE> WE CAN NOT ACCEPT MONEY
