Volunteers Needed at Kindergarten Registration
Volunteers are needed to help sell Discount Cards at Kindergarten
Registration on March 25. The hours of registration are 9am-1pm and
3pm-6pm. If you can volunteer 30 minutes of your time or more if you like,

Learn about Nanotechnology!
NanoDays - a week of public outreach centered on the science, risks and
rewards of Nanotechnology that is being held nationwide during the week of
March 30 - April 6.
At UVa, there will be a NanoDays Open House on Sunday, March 30 from 2-5 pm,
with (a) numerous interactive demos for both kids and adults, (b) multimedia
movies, web presentations and posters, (c) tours of our major nanolabs, and
(d) a discussion with author Rosalyn Berne about her book NanoTalk (in
conjunction with VA Festival of the Book). These activities are being hosted
by The Institute for Nano and Quantum Scientific and Technological Advanced
Research (nanoSTAR) in the new state-of-the-art research building, Wilsdorf

Community Forum on Preventing Underage Drinking
APRIL IS ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH!
MONDAY, MARCH 31ST

Lane Auditorium Albemarle County Office Building
Invited Guests and Panelists: Representatives from the Charlottesville and
Albemarle Public Schools, Charlottesville and Albemarle Commonwealth¹s
Attorneys Offices, Albemarle County Law Enforcement, elected officials,
substance abuse prevention and mental health services community, University
of Virginia, Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and Thomas
Jefferson Area Community Corrections. All representatives will be available
after the panel for an interactive question and answer session with the
audience.
Intended Audience: Parents, educators, prevention specialists, government
officials, health professionals, social workers, law enforcement,
faith-based groups, local businesses, the University community, and anyone
else working with youth at risk for underage drinking! Students are welcome!

Spring Book Fair Volunteers Needed
Thursday, April 16th to Wednesday April, 22nd
Dear Baker-Butler Volunteers:
Our volunteers are always busy during this Spring season. The fair depends
on you to help with set-up, staffing the cashier, and pack-up:
Please email me if you can volunteer during any of these time blocks. Please
remember that these times are flexible and I can work around your schedule.

Thursday, April 16th from 11:00 until about 2:20- the more volunteers the
faster this unpacking will go!
Friday, April 17th; Family Night
5:45 until 9:10-(shifts are 5:45 to 7:45; 7:45 to 9:10)
Monday, April 20th & Tuesday, April 21st
Shifts from 8:00am to 2:45;
2 hour blocks:
8:00 to 10:00;
10:00 to 12:00
12:00 to 2:45
I can be flexible with these times especially if you want to work around
your lunch time or pre-school pick ups
Wednesday, April 22nd; Tear down
Pack up from 10:00 until 11:30-this will require 4 volunteers, again the
more volunteers we have to help the faster the packing will go.
