Some parents did not get the following form. If you did not get one and
are interested in participating in any of the following PTO activities,
please either print the form out and return it to school or e-mail Kelly
Faulconer your interests at faulconers4 at aol.com. 

PTO Event & Task Description Form

(Please check next to where you can help, and provide contact info below)
___Art Enrichment * -After school Art Classes offered to all grades.
___Assemblies -One or two assemblies are organized/year by the PTO to
provide educational
enrichment for students (e.g. Skylab 2003).
___Baked Goods -Baked or store bought cookies, etc. are sent in to sell
at various school events.
(Dates are listed on Volunteer Sign Up Form).
___Big G Box Tops -School receives cash for General Mills Box Tops.
Collection Box located in BW
front hall. (Volunteers collect and sort labels).
___Book Fair -New books (Scholastic) are displayed/sold in the library
for approx. 1 week
___Book Swap -Students bring used books to school, receive coupons, and
are eligible to trade
coupons for books on the day of the "swap". 
___BW School Directory -School Directory (phonebook) contains students’
addresses, phone numbers, etc.
is published in the Fall.
___County Representative -Represents school at monthly Parent Council
meetings, and in informs school
of current issues. Represents and informs school on county education
budget at
board of Education and Board of Supervisors meetings (Spring).
___Dances -Parent/Daughter and Parent/Son dances are held in Feb/Mar.
___Email & Web -E-mail communication system set up to enhance
communication among PTO,
school administration, and Broadus Wood families. 
___Foreign Language -After school foreign language classes (Spanish,
French, German and Latin)
___Fun Run -A fun & athletic event for the whole family
___Grocery Promotions -BW School number is given by parent to
Giant/Kroger when you shop. Points
are acquired and rewards redeemed.
___Muffin Monday -Muffins, bagels, etc. are provided by parents
(volunteers) for teachers and
administration each Monday morning. (Bring to school by 7:30 AM on
designated Monday).
___Publishing House * -Students write & create their own books. Books are
typed and bound (hardback)
by volunteers. No experience necessary. Work with a group of other
volunteers.
___Read-a-thon -Students read for specified amounts of time each day.
Time spent reading is
recorded on Read-a-thon Board at school. (Usually held during TV turn-off
week).
___Roller Skating -Roller skating/blading in the school gym is open to
the BW school community on
Friday evenings in Jan, Feb, and March (approximately 5 Friday
nights/year).
___School Sign Updates Update Marquee in front of school with event
info/times,etc.
___Science Enrichment -After school classes.
___Science Fair -Students create science projects at home and bring them
to display at school.
___Spirit Committee -School spirit is promoted through selling BW shirts,
bumper stickers, etc. at BW events.
___Talent Show -Students display their performing talents on stage.
___Teacher Appreciation -Teacher are given gift baskets, etc. during
Teacher Appreciation Week events
(usually in April).Teacher Lunch provided by PTO on last day of school.
___Trick or Trunk * _A new, safe way to involve the whole family in
Halloween fun
___Wreath Sales -Wreaths are sold and delivered in time for fall holidays
___Yard Sale -Spring Yard Sale to help you clean up and the PTO earn
funds for BW
___Yearbook -BW Yearbook is distributed in May. Photographers needed to
take photos
during school day and at special class/school events. Digital cameras
provided.
