MAXIMIZING SCHOOLS' RESOURCES: THE RESULTS ARE IN!
On Thursday, December 13 at 6:00 PM, the School Board will review the
Resource Utilization Study Report, an extensive five-month study,
conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University's Commonwealth
Educational Policy Institute. The report offers suggestions to
maximize use of the schools' resources. “The goal for both the
short-term and long-term is to use the information to create
efficiencies in our school system,” said Superintendent Pamela Moran,
Ed.D.
The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6:00 in Room 320,
Albemarle County Office Building, 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SCHOOL BUDGET PROCESS
The County's timing for school budget approval has changed. On
Wednesday, December 19, Superintendent Pamela Moran will present the
proposed budget to the School Board. The meeting is open to the public
and will begin at 6:30 pm at Lane Auditorium, Albemarle County Office
Building, 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville.
On Wednesday, January 16 at 7 pm, the School Board will be hosting a
Tele-Town Hall Meeting. Via telephone, callers have the option of
staying on-line to participate, or just listen. More information
concerning this Town Hall Meeting is posted on the Albemarle County
School website at http://schoolcenter.k12albemarle.org/
Other important dates relating to the budget are:
Tuesday, January 29, School Board Public Hearing at 6:30 pm (location
TBA)
Wednesday, March 5 Board of Supervisors Public Hearing #1 on Budget
(Time & Location TBA)
Wednesday, April 2 Board of Supervisors Public Hearing #2 on Budget
(Time & Location TBA)

1. PUBLIC EDUCATION FUND FOR C-VILLE-ALBEMARLE
Founded in 2004, the Public Education Fund of Charlottesville-Albemarle
is a community-based nonprofit organization established to improve the
quality of teaching and learning in Charlottesville and Albemarle
County public schools. The Public Education Fund believes that strong
public schools are critical to Charlottesville and Albemarle County’s
viability and that the community must take action to ensure their
success. Volunteers are needed to help raise funds. Learn more at

2. JABA’S FISH PROGRAM
Do you know anyone interested in volunteering in local public schools?
JABA FISH (Jefferson Area Board for Aging Friends In Schools Helping)
needs volunteers to help close the achievement gap and support students
who are at-risk academically and for whom English is a second language.
Volunteers receive free training. For more information, contact
Brownsville's Pat at 817.5217 or pseverson at jabacares.org.
