SCHOOL BUDGET INFO
Parents are encouraged to attend the School Board Public Hearing on
Tuesday, January 29, at 6:30 p.m. (location TBA) on Superintendent
Pamela Moran's funding request for $152.9 million for the 2008-2009
school year.
To review and to learn details about the budget and its development
process, go online to http://www.k12albemarle.org/board/budget.
Spending per student is $11,064 (75% is instructional expense)
Revenue = $152.1 million, a 2.81% increase over last year from all
local, state, federal sources (includes ≈ $2.3 million from local
revenue-–the smallest increase in recent history)
Expenses= $152.9 million (3.3% increase over last year)
Health insurance cost projected + 8%,
Dental insurance cost projected +6%.
$6.2 million for employee compensation and benefits increases (market
teacher salary increase of 4% + small market adjustments = increases
from 1.67 - 5.67%)
Gap = $862,637 (to be covered by increased revenues and/or reductions
in proposed budget)

LIVE & LEARN: PARENT CONFERENCE AND RESOURCE FAIR
Sponsored by PREP/Parent Resource Center (www.prep-prc.org) and the
Special Education Advisory Committees (SEAC) of Albemarle,
Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Madison on Saturday,
March 8 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the PREP/Parent Resource Center
(Ivy Creek School Building) at 225 Lambs Lane, Charlottesville
Session topics include sensory strategies, family dynamics, assistive
technology, Virginia Assessments, Parent Advocacy, and more!

resource fair
9:30 – 11:00 – session one
11:00 – 11:30 – break, resource fair
