8th Grade Dance Volunteers Needed!
The monetary donations are still coming in and are greatly appreciated,
however, now the committee needs some warm bodies, too. We will be doing
some preliminary decorating this Thursday evening from 6:30 – 9:30 P.M. and
we can especially use some of our Dads! Please contact Susan Turner at
971-8122 or susanturner at adelphia.net <mailto:susanturner at adelphia.net>  or
just show up this Thursday. If you can, bring your sturdiest ladder, too!
Dance Photographer: HELP!!! We need someone who can take photos of the kids
at the dance. To do this, we’ll need a digital camera and printer as well
as a photographer who knows how to use them or at least someone who can
teach us how to use them :-). The dance committee will provide the photo
paper and other needed supplies. If you can help with this in any way or
have a suggestion, please contact Shelley Payne at 984-6862 or
shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu <mailto:shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu>  ASAP!!!
The dance committee is looking for the following decorations, please contact
Susan Turner at 971-8122 or susanturner at adelphia.net
<mailto:susanturner at adelphia.net> if you have any of the following items:
*         Extension cords, preferably white
*         Twin mattresses
*         Wicker furniture
*         Indoor spotlights
* Silk plants, planters and/or flats of flowers
*         Oriental rugs
* Bulk oriental/Arabian spices (cumin, coriander, cardamom,
turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, etc.)
* Small wooden bowls or baskets
*         Brass trays, pots, etc.
* Any other decorative pieces that have an Oriental/Arabian look to
them

Volunteers are needed for the following:
*         Set-Up, Friday afternoon between 1:00 – 5:30 P.M.  Please contact
Susan Turner at 971-8122 or susanturner at adelphia.net
<mailto:susanturner at adelphia.net> if you are available during that time.
* Clean-Up, both immediately following the dance and/or Saturday at
9:30 A.M. Please contact Shelley Payne at 984-6862 or
shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu <mailto:shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu>  if you can
help.

Burley PTO Officers Needed
The PTO is looking to fill the following positions for next year:
Volunteer Coordinator: Collects data from the Volunteer Information Sheet
and then provides lists of volunteers to event chairs. This is a great
position for someone who would rather do their volunteer work in the comfort
of their own home!
Parent Council Representative: Attends monthly Parent Council meetings and
then keeps the PTO informed about topics and events happening within the
school division as needed. This is a great opportunity to work with the
School Board and the School Superintendent and doesn’t require a significant
time commitment. (Parent Council is a group of parent representatives from
each county school that shares information with the school division and with
each other on topics of interest to parents)
Fundraiser Coordinator: Oversees fall and spring fundraisers. This
position would work closely with the current fundraiser coordinator, Shelley
Payne, with the goal of “learning the ropes” and eventually taking over when
her 6th grader enters 8th grade. This would be a perfect position for a
parent of a rising 6th grader or a current parent with younger siblings on
their way to Burley.
Please contact PTO President Andrea Trank at 296-7165 or
atrank at k12albemarle.org <mailto:atrank at k12albemarle.org> if you are
interested in any of these positions.
Choir CD and New York City Trip Slideshow -- Reminder
You can still order your copies this week and pick them up on Monday, June
12th. The Burley Choir CD is $5.00 and will include all of the music from
our final concert, digitally remixed and edited for the best possible
keepsake. The Performing Arts New York City Trip Slideshow is nearing
completion.
Please email photo submissions to Mr. Jennings using: kiribub at gmail.com
<mailto:kiribub at gmail.com> , not his Albemarle County address.
When completed, the Slideshow will be available for $5.00 and will be
playable in most late-model DVD players and Windows-based computers. The
Slideshow includes students from band, chorus, and drama.
All proceeds from the sale of choral music and slideshow media support
scholarships and trip subsidies for next year. Order forms will be
available next week at Mr. Jennings' classroom and at the main office.
Orders will be delivered to students the last week of school.
