Monticello High School Sports Physicals
Any rising 8th or 9th grade student who wishes to participate in sports next
year must have a physical on file with the MHS Athletic Office dated after
May 1, 2006.  Sports physicals will be conducted at MHS for a cost of $5
payable to Monticello High School.  Please stop by the Athletic Office and
pick up a physical form to complete and have ready on the day of the
physical.  Please call 434-244-3130 if you have any questions.
*         Boys Physical:  Thursday, June 1 starting at 4:00 P.M.
*         Girls Physical:  Friday, June 2, starting at 4:00 P.M.
Please check with the Albemarle High School Athletic Office for information
about their physicals dates and times.  I would greatly appreciate if
someone could send me the information on the AHS dates to
shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu <mailto:shp33 at alumni.virginia.edu>  and I will
include it in the Burley Bulletin.  Thanks!
Monticello High PTSO Hosts Superintendent & School Board
Please note this meeting is open to parents across the school division
Monticello High School’s PTSO will host the new Albemarle County Public
Schools superintendent, Dr. Pamela Moran, and School Board representatives
on Monday, May 15 for a panel discussion followed by a meet-and-greet
reception. The event is open to parents across the Albemarle County school
division. The Monticello High PTSO will hold its regular meeting from 6:00
to 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Forum. At 6:30 p.m., a musical presentation
will take place followed by a question-and-answer session with the
superintendent and School Board representatives. Following the meeting,
guests are invited to stay for refreshments and personally meet the
superintendent and School Board representatives. Monticello High is located
at 1400 Independence Way in Charlottesville.
Special Needs Camps
Looking for a camp or summer activity for your child?
Camping for All, a program whose mission is to increase camping
opportunities for people with special needs, can help. Camping for All has
been exploring the services that local camps and summer programs are
currently able to offer to this population and we'd like to use this
information to help you find an appropriate program for your child. If you
are looking for a camp or summer activity and would like to discuss which
programs may be appropriate for your child, or if you would like some
general guidelines for choosing a camp for your child, please contact us at:

Community Classes and Workshops
Surviving The Teen Years Parenting Classes
Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) will be holding its successful
Surviving the Teen Years Parenting Class Series for parents of children 12 –
18 years old in Fluvanna County starting in two weeks.
When:             May 25th - June 29th   6 Classes, 6:00 – 7:30 pm, Thursday
Evenings
Who:               Jack Gallagher, Instructor
Where:            Fluvanna County Administrative Building, 123 Main Street,
Palmyra, Va 22963
For Whom:      This is a class for parents and their teens. National
curriculum.
Costs:             $15 fee per adult covers all 6 classes, a parenting
manual, handouts, and 3 optional parent consultation sessions where we help
parents apply what they have learned in the classes to their family
situation.
This class is fun and can lead to a more successful and less stressful
family experience.  Please call Jack Gallagher at 296 4118 x 257 for more
information or to enroll. Enrollment is easy and takes less than 5 minutes.
