Bullying Decreases at Burley
Jackson P. Burley continues to show progress toward eliminating bullying. A
full report can be observed on the school's website
www.k12albemarle.org/burley <http://www.k12albemarle.org/burley> .
Burley has made bullying prevention a special focus of attention since the
spring of 2001. The bully prevention effort has included staff training,
student assemblies, classroom discussion groups, development of a peer
relations curriculum, individual counseling, and other school-wide efforts.
Annual and semi-annual student surveys over the past five years show that
bullying has declined dramatically.

Since the first bullying survey in 2001, the percentage of students who
reported bullying others (once per week or more) has decreased from 6.9% to
1.5%, a decline of 78%.

Similarly, the percentage of students who reported being bullied by others
(once per week or more) decreased from 14.9% to 3.6%, a decline of 76%
