We have received over 100 parent surveys so far, but that leaves about 400
more to go! Please complete your blue survey and return it to Burley in the
postage paid envelope as soon as you can.  Thank you!
School Directory
The School Directory was given out to students on Friday, October 27 (right
after their school picture was taken).  If you haven’t seen it yet, you may
want to check your child’s backpack.  We will be doing a directory
supplement in January so please let Jennifer Wagoner (
gomomyourock at earthlink.net <mailto:gomomyourock at earthlink.net>  or 978-1989)
know if there are any changes or corrections needed.  If your child was
absent that day and did not receive a copy, you may get one from the school
office.  Extra copies can be requested for a small fee to cover paper and
copying costs.
Performing Arts Fundraisers
Please help send our students on their spring trip!  The performing arts
students are selling the 2007 Attractions Dining and Value Guide.  This book
contains over $3,000 in Buy One Get One Free and Money Saving Coupons to
your favorite restaurants and stores in Charlottesville and its surrounding
communities (including Crozet, Gordonsville, Waynesboro and Staunton).  Some
of the participating restaurants are:  Pizza Hut, Subway, Blue Bird Café,
Revolutionary Soup and Shebeen.  In addition many of your favorite stores
are in there as well:  Rack Room Shoes, Whole Foods, Best Buy and Pet
Supplies Plus to name a few.  Coupons are good now through December 31,
2007!  To order, contact your favorite performing arts student by November
15th.  Or you can contact Ms. Wilson at 295-5101 or
ewilson2 at k12albemarle.org <mailto:ewilson2 at k12albemarle.org>  through the
end of November.
But wait, there’s more!!  You can also purchase your holiday Poinsettias,
too.  These are huge, beautiful plants and are available in one color (red)
and two sizes (Medium for $8 and Large for $16).  Orders can be placed until
November 20th and will be delivered November 29th or 30th.  Again to order,
please contact your favorite performing arts student or contact Ms. Allen at

Dance Chaperones Needed
Please contact Karen at 973-8617 or cklilley at hotmail.com if can help
chaperone the dance on Friday, November 17th from 4:15 – 7:00 PM.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks are on sale now!  Don’t miss out!  This year we will have some
wonderful new additions to the yearbook.  You could even have your name
printed on the front of the yearbook in gold!  Order forms have been sent
home with students and are due on November 30th.  If you need a form please

Message From the School Nurse
Dear Parents,
I would like to take the opportunity to remind you that if your child is
asthmatic, it is important that they have access to their inhaler at school.
A signed permission form from yourself and the Physician is required. An
inhaler can be kept in the clinic for your child's use on an as needed
basis.  This is especially important at various times throughout the school
year with gym related activities, cold and flu season, etc.  Please do not
hesitate to call me for any questions regarding this matter.

School Art Contest and Art News
Teachers will be voting from now until November 17th on their favorite
student artwork on www.Artsonia.com <http://www.artsonia.com/> !
Teachers will choose their favorite piece of art from 6th, 7th & 8th Grade.
Ms. Dean will compile the name that is chosen the most from each grade.
There will be ONE winner from EACH grade. These winners will get a t-shirt
from Artsonia with their artwork printed on it.
The winners will be announced in the November/December Art Newsletter. You
can find the current newsletter on Burley’s webpage under Ms. Dean’s online
classroom. You can also get a hard copy in Ms. Dean’s room, the office or
the guidance office.
If you have little things like buttons, ribbons, old paints, old
pictures
anything you'd like to get rid of Ms. Dean is starting a box for
the kids to use to make their altered books.  Anything like little beads,
small fabric pieces and things of that nature would be terrific, too.  If
you have anything like that please pass it on for the kids.  It really can
be anything because it is the student's job to be creative with how they use
it...and man are they good at that!!!  If you don't know what the altered
books look like, come by the art room sometime and take a look...they are so
great!
Also, please remember that the Art Club meets every Wednesday morning from
8:00 – 9:00 AM.
