Magazine Sale Fundraiser Starts Tuesday
Please check your child’s backpack for the Magazine Sale Information Packet.
This is Burley’s largest fundraiser and we hope that everyone who can will
participate.  Please make checks payable to Burley Middle School PTO.
P.S. If you chose not to purchase magazine subscriptions, the PTO will
gladly accept donations.
Important Fundraiser Dates:
Wednesday, September 13:  “Reach Out” Out-of-Town Address Booklets due
Tuesday, September 19:  1st Collection Day for Magazine Order Forms &
Payments
Thursday, September 28:  Final Collection Day for Magazine Order Forms &
Payments
Fundraiser Volunteers Needed
We need lots of volunteers to help the magazine fundraiser run smoothly.

following times:
Wed., 9/13, 9:30 – 11:00  Address Book Collection/Processing – will need 6
people to check booklets for completeness/authorize prizes
Wed., 9/13, 11:00 – 1:10  Prize Handout for Address Books (during lunch) –
will need 4 people to help hand out prizes
Tues., 9/19, 9:30 – 1:00 1st Order Collection Day Processing – will need 6
people to check orders for completeness/authorize prizes
Wed., 9/20, 10:00 – 1:10 1st Prize Handout (during lunch) – will need 3
people to set up prizes in cafeteria before lunch and then 6 people to help
hand out prizes during lunch
Thur., 9/28, 9:30 – 1:00 Final Order Collection Day Processing -- will need
6 people to check orders for completeness/authorize prizes
Fri., 9/29, 10:30 – 1:00 Final Prize Handout -- will need 3 people to set up
prizes in cafeteria before lunch and then 6 people to help hand out prizes
during lunch
Where Does Your PTO Money Go?
Last year the PTO made the following expenditures:
*         $1,400 for Student Planners  (The PTO pays over ½ the cost of the
student planners)
*         $5,100 for Grade Level & Related Arts Teams.  (These funds
purchase needed items as determined by the teachers.  In the past these
funds have purchased LCD projectors, music equipment and teaching materials.
They are also used to subsidize field trips.)
*         $1,100 for Teacher & Staff Appreciation  (This includes gifts,
breakfast and the end of year luncheon.)
*         $4,000 for Principal’s Discretionary Fund  (This was used to help
several school groups travel to national and international competitions last
year.)
*         $1,300 in Reimbursements for various activities, such as:
*         Substitute Teachers’ Lunches
*         College & Career Night
*         Teen Health Night
*         EXPO Night
*         8th Grade Dance
*         Shakespeare Production
*         Quilt Project
*         Total:  $12,900
What about this year?
Due to the increased number of teachers the PTO will need to raise the
amount allocated to the grade level and related arts teams.  The PTO is also
hoping to provide $3,000 to the school to be used with matching funds from
the county to purchase LCD projectors so that all classrooms will have a
projector.  Since the PTO doesn’t want to stop funding what we’ve done in
the past, this means we need to raise even more money this year.  Please
contribute whatever you can afford to help Burley continue to be the
wonderful school that it is!
