Congratulations to Mr. Jennings!
Congrats to Craig Jennings! Lite Rock Z95.1's Teacher of the Month! Each
month of the school year, Lite Rock Z95.1 acknowledges a teacher who stands
out from the rest in our local schools. Mr. Craig Jennings was selected for
the December Teacher of the Month Award.
Choral Concert Reminder!
The Burley Choral department is hosting its first full concert this
Wednesday, December 19, 2007. All ensembles will perform. Please note the
schedule below. There will be no admission charged for this event.
Volunteers are requested to sit with the students during the concert.

Concert Schedule for December 19
* 5:45 The Burley auditorium opens, 6th graders arrive
* 6:00 6th grade performance!
* 6:20 6th graders may leave, if they wish. An adult must
accompany students who wish to stay to watch the advanced choirs.
* 6:30 Bearettes warm-up, room #107
* 6:45 All elective and advanced choir members should be
in their seats.
* 7:00 The concert begins! The concert order is as
follows:
? 7th Grade Concert Choir
? 8th Grade Concert Choir
? The Burley Honor Choir
? The Burley Bearettes
? All Burley Advanced Choir students
The Burley Choirs would like to have a reception following the concert, and
are seeking a dedicated adult to coordinate affairs. Please contact Mr.
Jennings at your earliest convenience if you can help. Please join us!
Volunteers will not miss the concert! We are asking families to consider
donating baked goods for the reception. Also, we will need adult volunteers
to help with setup, service, and cleaning up.
In the spirit of the season, the Burley Chorus is sponsoring a canned food
drive to make a donation to the Jefferson Area Food Bank. Please consider
bringing a can or two to add!
The concert is being digitally recorded; thus, the balcony will be closed to
all but the recording personnel. Each participating student will receive a
free CD of the performance Friday, December 21!
Teacher Wish Lists
Please help your childs teachers restock the classrooms during the
holidays! While you are doing your holiday shopping, please consider
donating items from the list of most requested items below. As an
alternative, simply make a small donation to the Burley PTO and we will
purchase the needed items for you! If you choose this option, simply send a
check made out to Burley PTO and well take care of the rest. Please send in
donations no later than Friday, 21 December 2007. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Congratulations to Ms. Dean & Summer Art Program Applications!
Please congratulate Ms. Dean for being selected to teach at the governor
school program this summer. Ms. Dean is one of 4 teachers for this gifted
program. Be sure to check out the photos online and see if you can find her
giving a demonstration!

Albemarle County Seeks Parents, Community Members for Two Division Advisory
Committees
Parent and community representatives are invited to apply to serve on two
Albemarle County Public Schools advisory groups. Representatives are sought
for the School Health Advisory Board and the Long-Range Planning Committee.
Applications for both advisory groups are available online at HYPERLINK

Board link. Applications also are available from the School Board Office in
Room 345 of the Albemarle County Office Building at 401 McIntire Road in
Charlottesville. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan.
11, 2007. Applications can be faxed to (434) 296-5869 or mailed to the
Albemarle County School Board to the attention of Jennifer Johnston at 401
McIntire Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
The School Health Advisory Board is charged to meet at least four times a
year and to annually report to the School Board on the status of school
health education and services in each of the divisions schools. The report
also includes an assessment of health needs of school-aged children in the
school division and may include recommendations designed to address the
needs identified in this process. Applications are being accepted for
representatives from the Rio, Rivanna, Scottsville, White Hall, and At-Large
magisterial districts and an Other Health Professional position.
The Long-Range Planning Committee is accepting applications for membership
from the Jouett, Rivanna, Scottsville, White Hall, and At-Large magisterial
districts. The Committee will analyze enrollment trend data, population
growth trends, building capacities, staffing standards and other relevant
information to develop recommendations for the School Board concerning
facility needs for the Capital Improvement Program. One member of the
Committee serves on any redistricting committee that is convened.
