Reminder Review of Superintendents Funding Request Tomorrow (January 31)
at 8 AM
Mrs. Howard will review the Superintendents Funding Request for the
2007-2008 School Year tomorrow morning at 8 AM in the Auditorium. Please
note the School Boards public hearing on this funding request is scheduled
for tomorrow (January 31) at 6 P.M. in Lane Auditorium at the County Office
Building.
Safety Concern Meeting Tomorrow Morning
As you know, double-parking for student drop-off and pick-up is a serious
safety concern. We were recently approached by the City of Charlottesville
Police Department with a request for our cooperation in alleviating a
problem.
Beginning immediately, we will require anyone who is picking up a child at
the end of the school day or dropping a child off in the morning to park
parallel along the curb without blocking the bike lane. This will require
parking along the length of the school front extending down Rose Hill Drive
to the soccer fields for some parents.
The City Police Department has notified us that any cars that are
double-parked along Rose Hill Drive after February 15, 2007 will be
ticketed. A police officer will be in the Burley Middle School auditorium
on Wednesday, January 31 at 8:20 A.M. following Mrs. Howards presentation
of the Superintendents Funding Request to address the matter and answer any
questions you may have.
Thank you for your cooperation with all of our student drop-off and pick-up
needs. We would also like to remind all parents that we are unable to
supervise students dropped off earlier than 8:50 A.M. Only students who are
participating in a staff supervised activity will be allowed into the
building prior to that time. Please take this into consideration when
arranging morning transportation for your child.
