AUTHOR, AUTHOR!
Upstairs at Sycamore House, 1106 West Main Street or elsewhere by
arrangement for children with mobility disabilities. By appointment
July-August.  $15.00 per session.
Working in pairs and occasional small groups, co-leaders Mary Anna Dunn and
Jeanne-Marie Peterson will help children write for pleasure and for the
pleasure of communicating their ideas with others.  We will start with the
child’s interests and talents, following goals set with parents.  We are not
a remedial or tutorial program. Our emphasis is on the joy of writing, but
we believe in helping children fully experience the gift of communication by
developing their strengths while addressing areas that hold them back as
writers.  We welcome all levels from struggling to advanced writers.
Jeanne-Marie holds an MA in Special Education and is a private instructor
for home schooled children. Mary Anna holds an MA in English and an Ed.D. in
Curriculum and Instruction.  Her writing has appeared, or is forthcoming in
Inkwell, The Social Studies, and Educational Leadership.
OPEN STUDIO MORNINGS.
Upstairs at Sycamore House, 1106 West Main Street.  July through August,
Wednesday Mornings 10:00 a.m. until Noon.  Suggested donation:  $2.00.
Closed July 4th and 23rd.  Visit our new studio and explore the enriching
materials used at The Enrichment Place. This is an unstructured program that
is intended to help children develop an interest in exploring enriching,
purposeful activities, as opposed to TV and video games, during their
leisure time.  Please remain in the building with while you child is in our
studio.  Special thanks to Sycamore House and The Junior League of
Charlottesville.  For more information call:  Mary Anna Dunn, Ed.D, 295-1002
