Magazine Sale Update – Profit Goal Not Reached
Yet!
First, a big thank you to all the families who have participated in the
magazine sale fundraiser.  As you hopefully know, this is the PTO’s main
source of funds that we use to support the school.  Using these funds we
make allocations to each grade level, as well as the various departments of
the school.  These allocations are used by our teachers for a variety of
applications, from subsidizing field trips to purchasing classroom resources
and supplies.  Given the budget cuts that Burley is facing, the PTO was
hoping to increase our revenue and provide additional funds.  To accomplish
this we set a profit goal of $10,000 for the magazine sale, which is
slightly more than we made last year.  Unfortunately, we haven’t reached
this goal and even more sadly we haven’t even reached last year’s total
sales -- we are under that amount by just over $3,000.  Our last collection
day was today, but since we are still a long way from our goal we’ve decided
to extend the sale through the end of this week.  We are also adding an
additional prize.  Every student who sells 12 magazines over the course of
the sale will earn the Limo Lunch!
For the past three years, the magazine sale has been very successful and has
met our goal for the school.  Knowing that not every family can contribute
financially, when we’ve met our goal, we’ve always invited the entire school
to the magazine sale celebration, which this year will be a BMX Bike Show on
October 30th at 1:00.  We hope to continue this tradition, so please do what
you can this week to help us raise the last $3,000.  Donations are always
welcome. :-)
Prizes turned in this week will earn the following:
2 Orders – Magic Water Trick
4 Orders – iPOD shaped FM Radio with Earphones
6 Orders – Foldable Compact MP3 Player Speakers
Also remember the following prizes are earned based on overall sales:
1 Order – Attend the BMX Bike Show
12 Orders – Attend the :-(imo :-(unch – New Prize!
15 Orders – Flying Monkey with Sound (look for cash in their pouch!) plus
the Plush Monkey Alarm Clock
18 Orders – Gas Pump Drink Dispenser
24 Orders – Deluxe Cordless Telephone System
30 Orders – :-)ammin’ Backpack with MP3 Compatible Speakers
40 Orders – Inflatable Air Chair and Boombox for iPOD Use
50 Orders – Amazing folding Mini Bike
7th Grade Make a Difference Day Food Drive
The 7th grade has decided on a food drive for their contribution to "Make a
Difference Day."  We have been in contact with Patti Wilson, a seventh grade
parent who volunteers at the :-)efferson Food Bank, who sent along some
suggestions.
The Food Drive will begin October 15th and continue through October 23rd.
The Homeroom with the most points gets an ice cream party!
Homeroom Student Captains will keep track of the number of items donated.
Tallies will be announced daily.
