Picture Makeup Day
Next Wednesday, October 3rd, is picture makeup Day!! That¹s when the school
photographer will be here to take pictures for new students, students who
were absent, and students who wish a retake. For a portrait that everyone
will like, be sure to look your best and dress appropriately. Wear bright
colored clothes such as red or yellow. Stripes or plaids are good too. And
be sure to bring your smile. All new students and students who were absent
on September 5th, must get their portrait taken, regardless of your intent
to buy a package. If you wish a retake, you must have your picture envelope
or a money envelope.
We will also be taking group/club pictures on this day. Schedules will be
posted throughout the school. Please make sure you are present for your
group¹s photo. Staff members must get their portraits done anytime between
8:45-3:00.
Remember picture retake day is next Wednesday. If you need a money
envelope, ask your teacher or get one from the office.
If anyone has any questions for Lifetouch or needs a refund, please call
Barbara at 1-800-927-0113, ext. 201.
Magazine Fundraiser Underway
We had a terrific kick-off for our magazine sale fundraiser last week.
Every student should have received a packet containing the magazine catalog,
the Reach Out booklet, order forms and a white order form return envelope.
Extra packets are available in the school office, along with extra order
forms and return envelopes.
We have set a high but achievable goal of $10,000 for our fundraiser this
year. If everyone contributes I’m sure that we will be able to exceed it.
Remember that the profit from this sale goes directly back in to the school
to help purchase classroom resources, technology, subsidize field trips,
etc.
Here are the collection dates and rewards for each day. Please note that
this year different prizes are earned on different days rather than in
previous years where reward levels accumulated over the course of the sale.
Therefore only turn in the number of orders for the maximum number of prizes
that day. For example, don’t turn in more than 15 orders on the 1st
collection day. However, at the end of the sale we will provide additional
prizes based on total sales, so keep selling!! :-)
Monday, October1: Reach Out (address) booklets due. Make sure you have at
least 7 complete addresses and neatness counts!

Wednesday, October 3: 1st Order Collection Day – must have payment with
your order!
* 1 Order: BMX Stunt Team Bike Show. Watch them jump over your
Principal!
* 3 Orders: Rattling Magnets

* 8 Orders: VIP Seating at Show
* 12 Orders: S-T-R-E-T-C-H Limousine Lunch
* 15 Orders: Invite a friend on the Limo Lunch
Tuesday, October 9: 2nd Order Collection Day – again don’t forget to
include your payment.
* For Every Order: Get a Hershey Bar (No Limit). Some of the
Hershey Bars are marked for cash!
* 4 Orders: Tunnel Lamp with Lanyard
* 6 Orders: Jumbo Universal Remote Control
Wednesday, October 17: FINAL Order Collection Day
* 2 Orders: Magic Water Trick
* 4 Orders: IPOD Shaped FM Radio with Earphones
* 6 Orders: Foldable Compact MP3 Player Speakers (Some have cash in
them)

News From The Art Room

You can go to this site and check out the student artwork I have posted. You
can also purchase some of your favorite art and have it printed on a
t-shirt, mug, greeting cards, etc. The great news about Artsonia is that 15%
of all that is purchased comes back to the art program at Burley. These make
great gifts at Christmas for grandparents, aunts and uncles!!!
Continue to check this site because I am putting up new art almost daily.
Cell Phone and Empty Laser and Inkjet Cartridges Recycling Earns Cash for
Chorus!
Burley Middle School Chorus is participating in the FundingFactory®
Recycling Program again this year! This fundraiser is FREE and simple
because there’s nothing to sell, no paperwork to fill out and no deadline.
The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts.
We need your help. Please donate your empty printer cartridges and used cell
phones to our school and we’ll take it from there! We will recycle the empty
laser and inkjet cartridges, and cell phones through FundingFactory to earn
cash for Burley’s choral groups. Collection boxes are in main hallway by
office and in Mr. Jennings’ room.
FundingFactory also sponsors a businesses support program, where your
employer can help out Burley Middle School without spending a cent. Prepaid
shipping boxes can be sent, free of charge, directly to any business,
organization or other facility within the continental United States.
Business supporters simply need to load the boxes and leave them for the
next UPS pickup. If you work for a company that may be interested in
supporting us, please call FundingFactory toll-free at 1.888.883.8237. Give
the customer service representative our school identification number (ID #
25520) and they’ll set you up to support our account.

Burley Chorus Is Getting CASH For Your Used Books
Funding Factory is starting a new pilot program to recycle used books for
cash. Burley’s Choral programs are taking advantage of this and we could use
your help. Please drop off your used books at the school. Collection boxes
are in the front hallway by the office and in Mr. Jennings room.
Books need to fit the following criteria:
* Good condition
* Adult books (sorry, children’s books not accepted)
* Published within the past five years
* Original price of more than $12.00
* Paperbacks are fine if they meet these guidelines.
