Teen Health Night This Thursday
We need volunteers for this Thursday! Our volunteers that were available last Thrusday are booked this Thursday. Please contact shp33 at embarqmail.com if you can help. Thanks!!
Our Teen Health Night has been rescheduled to this Thursday. Come for as little or as long as you like. We will be starting at 5:30 and will have 4 ½-hour information sessions beginning at 6:00 P.M. We will also have terrific door prizes donated by Ragged Mountain Running Shop. Here is a sample of the topics we'll cover:
· Eliminating Everyday Aches & Pains: The Impact of Gait Analysis, Mark Lorenzoni, Owner, Ragged Mountina Running Shop
· Safe Surfing on the Internet, Deputy Kevin M. Sprouse, Albemarle County Sheriff's Office
· Poison Awareness for Parents and Teens, Sue Kell, PhD, Education Director of the Blue Ridge Poison Center
· Teens and Sleep, Gabriele Ford, RN, MSN, FNP-C, with the Pediatric UVA Children's Hospital Sleep Disorders Program
· How to Talk to Your Child About Sexuality, Mary A. Sullivan, M.Ed., UVA Teen Health Center
· Proper Weightlifting Techniques, Trish Phillips, Director of Fitness, Glenmore Country Club
Please spread the word on this event with your family and friends. This event is open to all parents in the community, not just Burley. Also feel free to bring your teens and tweens, too!
Albemarle County Budget Update
BUDGET UPDATE - Superintendent Pam Moran provided the attached budget update. The Board of Supervisors will hold it's FINAL public hearing regarding the advertised real estate tax rate this coming Wednesday, April 2nd (6:00pm) in Lane Auditorium of the County Office Building. Please review Dr. Moran's budget update to familiarize yourself with the impact of the tax rate upon our school system.
DINNER BEFORE WEDNESDAY'S PUBLIC HEARING - Parent Council will partner with AEA to provide pizza, sides, and drinks prior to the public hearing at 5:30pm Wednesday, April 2nd in the room directly across from Lane Auditorium. Please encourage your parents, teachers, students, education supporters to attend the public hearing and contact BOS in support of education funding.
