Help the Burley Chorus

The Burley Chorus continues to earn CASH by recycling empty inkjet or laser
cartridges, used cell phones and used books (less than 5 years old).  Thanks
to Burley families who sent in these items, our choral groups we have earned
hundreds of dollars this year.  We've been able to supply music performance
CD's to all choral students at no charge and have also gotten many free
office supplies from Staples by earning $3 coupons.  This is a year-round
fundraiser for us and we thank you for your support.  Please continue to
send these items in whenever you have them. They may be dropped off in the
collection box in the main office or call Patti Wilson at 974-1514 or
409-7855 and arrange for her to pick them up.  Thanks for your continued
support throughout the year !

Burley Bear Market

Remember to start getting your yard sale "treasures" ready for the Burley
Bear Market.  The Burley Bear Market will be held on Saturday, May 10th from
9am until noon.  Buy a table for $10.00 and bring your items to sell!  You
keep your profits.

Clarification

To clarify about the sports physicals at MHS:  This is a quick way to get a
sports physical form signed, however, students are also welcome and
encouraged to see their regular doctor for their more thorough yearly
physical, and can get a form signed at this time. This is especially true
for athletes with any specific concerns or underlying health conditions.

Ohio University Men's Chorus to Perform Free Concert at Burley Middle School

The Ohio University Men's Chorus will perform a free concert at the Jackson
P. Burley Middle School Auditorium on Monday, May 5, 2008, at 7:30 PM.
Admission is free.  This unexpected surprise visit is due to a "bolt from
the blue" email from their director to Albemarle County music teacher Craig
Jennings, director of choirs at Burley.  The two men met and became friends
three years ago at a music festival attended by the Albemarle County High
School band.

The concert will include a guest performance by the national award winning
Jackson P. Burley Middle School Women's Chorus.  If you have questions,

Les Miserables is Coming to AHS!

The spring AHS Drama production is Les Miserables May 2nd & 3rd at 8pm. and
May 4th at 3pm.  Advance tickets available at all Hallmark stores for $10,
and at the door for $15. Catered dinner theater May 3rd begins at 6:30pm in
the AHS cafeteria. Cost $20. Contact Faye Cunningham 975.9700 x 4213 or

Come See "Once Upon a Mattress" at MHS!

The Monticello Players Present "Once Upon a Mattress" Thursday, May 1, and
Saturday, May 3, at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday, May 4, at 3:00 P.M. in the
Monticello High School Auditorium.  Tickets cost $10.00 and are available in
advance from cast members or may be purchased at the door.  Children age 10
and under who come dressed as a prince or princess to the Sunday matinee
will be admitted for $5.00 if accompanied by a paying adult. (Only one child
per adult at this price.)  For more information, call 434-244-3100.
