Chorus Night This Thursday at Cici’s Pizza!
Students, teachers, and staff: This Thursday, January 10, is Chorus Night at
Cici's Pizza! Bring your family for dinner and the Burley Chorus gets a
portion of the proceeds! Come on out for great food and to support a great
group of kids. We hope to see you there!
School Dance Rescheduled
There will NOT be a school dance on Friday, January 11. It has been
rescheduled to Friday, January 18 from 4:15 – 7 P.M., sponsored by the
YLI!!!!
Live Town Hall Meeting on School Budget
The Albemarle County School Board will conduct a live, Town Hall meeting
over the phone on Wednesday, January 16 to give constituents an opportunity
to ask questions about the Albemarle County Public Schools budget for next
school year. During the Telephone Town Hall meeting, we will provide a brief
overview of the Superintendent’s Funding Request for next school year,
respond to questions from callers, and ask listeners to respond to a few
polling questions.
On the evening of January 16, between 7 and 7:25 p.m., registered voters in
Albemarle County will receive a telephone call inviting you to participate
in this live Town Hall meeting. At that time, if you would like to
participate, simply stay on the line, and you will be automatically
connected to the Town Hall meeting.
We encourage you to mark your calendar to participate in the January 16
Telephone Town Hall Meeting on the budget for next school year. For more

College & Career Planning Night One Week Away!!
* What: College & Career Planning Night
* When: Thursday, January 17, 6:00-8:30 P.M.
* Where: Burley Middle School, Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville
* Who: Parents of 4th – 8th grade students
Although high school graduation seems a long way off to parents of middle
and elementary school students, there are things you can do now to help your
child make better decisions and have more options regarding their future.
Please plan on attending Burley’s College & Career Planning night to learn
more about the following topics:
* Better understand financial aid and the Virginia 529 College
Savings Plan program.
* Learn about the wide variety of college and career planning
services provided through the Albemarle County school system and other
career planning resources.
* Learn how to help your child set goals and learn the skills to be
a valuable worker both in school and beyond.
These sessions will be lead by highly qualified individuals from the
Virginia 529 College Savings Plan, Albemarle County Schools, UVa, CATEC, and
PVCC.
This event is open to all parents in the Charlottesville area and
surrounding counties, so please pass on information about this event to your
friends and neighbors. Any help you can provide to help publicize this
event will be greatly appreciated!!

School Board on WINA
School Board and staff representatives make a monthly appearance on the 1070
WINA Radio Morning Show to discuss current events and issues in our school
system.
Turn your radio dial to AM 1070 from 9 to 10 a.m. on the following dates to

Child Advocate Awards Nominations
Children, Youth and Family Services -- a non-profit organization that
provides services to at-risk children and youth in our community -- is
seeking nominations for their annual Child Advocate awards. These awards
honor an individual who has worked hard on behalf of children and/or youth
in our community, and an employer who has promoted an especially
family-friendly work environment. Please go to the CYFS web site at
