Ms. Dean Wins Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Award!


Please congratulate Ms. Dean for this terrific honor!  She received a super
surprise after being selected from nearly 2,000 applicants for the Virginia

Concert This Thursday - Schedule & Volunteer Information

Calling all 7th and 8th grade band parents!!

Hello,

Mrs. Allen here, sorry all of this is so late.  Miss D'Arcangelis, Mr.
Barron, and I have been working on this Thursday's schedule.  I am in charge
of getting all the help and sending this e-mail.  They are in charge of
getting the groups ready to play. Hats off to all of you, I never imagined
how overwhelmed I would be as a parent.  Isn't it great!!  

We need your help.  Thursday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. the Symphonic
Seventh and Eighth grade band, string ensembles, and jazz band will perform
their grand finale for the year. 

We are going to attempt something new and different at the concert.  

First, it's three concerts in one!!  The entire sixth grade performing
ensembles (choir, band, and strings) will be featured on concert number one,
which begins at 6:00 p.m.  Following the concert the stage will be set for
our advanced concert ensembles, Symphonic band, flute choir, strings,
clarinet choir, and the eighth grade band. To end this concert we will be
inviting all band alumni to join us in a rock and roll medley.

Our exciting new ensemble, the Burley 8th grade drumline will be the
beginning and the end of concert number two.

Dessert by the Stars (our jazz stars!) - Our formal and sweet last concert
of the evening.  While the drumline is recessing, the seventh grade band
will pack up their instruments and return to the stage.  Meanwhile the
eighth grade students will be meeting their parents at the entrance of the
auditorium.  The 8th grade students are going to escort us to the cafeteria
for the festivities to continue.

Here is where we need your help: 

.         BRING A DESSERT TO SHARE

.         2-3 parents right after school to help with study hall

.         4-6 parents to set up/serve dessert

.         10 parents to tear down/clean up

.         5 parents to sit with each ensemble
