Hi Everyone,
So far this year we've had three fundraisers: The Dining and Attractions Guide, the Spaghetti Supper, and the Gift Wrap/Cookie Dough. We are doing very well so far, and I expect that the individual chairs, the treasurers, and I will have a clear understanding of where we stand financially at the next PTO meeting. I so appreciate the hard work and the efforts of our parents that agreed to take on these fundraisers: Lynn Bradley and Kaiti Schwartz for the Dining Guide, Kathy Repich (and her wonderful team of volunteers) for the spaghetti Supper, and Barbara Congdon and Penny Wagner for the Gift Wrap and Cookie Dough. (Penny graciously agreed to collect and input the orders.) I know there are others who helped -- thanks to you all!
We sent a flyer for our next fundraiser in last week's Tuesday envelope. The Fundraiser is selling tickets to the Simon Evening of Giving. We will be selling tickets to an evening of private shopping at Fashion Square Mall. The private shopping includes special sales, door prizes, etc., and will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2006. Each ticket to the Evening of Giving costs $10.00. For every ticket sold, the Crozet PTO will get $7.00 and the Simon Youth Foundation gets $3.00. See the website for the Simon Youth Foundation for more information. http://syf.simon.com/ Kelly-Ann Rayle is the chairperson for this fundraiser.
I hope you all understand the reasons why we are pursuing this kind of fundraising. (For the new parents -- this is the first year we've done this kind of fundraising, although last year we sold the Dining Guides.) In the past, we have relied too heavily upon the Fun Fair for most of our revenue. None of us was ever very comfortable with that. It put too much pressure on the Fun Fair chairs, the PTO officers, the teachers, and the parents involved. We literally have no other option than to do more of this kind of fundraising, so I hope you all understand. Speaking of the Fun Fair, as yet I do not have a chairperson for the event, so if you'd like to take it on, please contact me!!
We will not be sending out a voluntary contribution letter this year, but we always accept donations, so if you'd rather help out that way instead of contributing through the fundraisers, please feel free to do that! It is your choice, and we are grateful for the support you all provide -- financial, moral, and with your time and energy.
Thanks everyone, Patty
