Please let me know what you are willing to do next year for the PTO (actually for your children!) There are the many positions that are open including the following:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Parent Council Representative - We are losing Lynn Bradley as her daughter has been redistricted to ML. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lynn has been our Parent Council rep for two years, to redistricting. This is a very important position and requires you to be a liaison between the school PTO, the school, and the Albemarle County Parent Council. It is a great way to learn about the County's priorities, and to meet other parents. It requires that you go to one evening meeting a month at the Albemarle County Office Building and report back to the PTO.

Dining and Attractions Guide Fundraiser - We raised $4,000+ with this fundraiser this year. Lynn Bradley was the chair for this for the past two years. (By the way, Lynn was always the FIRST person to volunteer any time we were in a pinch!) According to Lynn, this is not a difficult fundraiser to organize.

Advertising Sales for the Student Directory - We've made $500 - $1000 on ad sales for the last two years. Lynn Bradley did this as well.

Silent Auction - Both of our chairs (who did a FANTASTIC job! -Thank you so much - will be gone next year. We're losing two really great volunteers -- Kim Connolly and Barbara Congdon - again, two volunteers that always came through when we needed help with anything. Kim's youngest son is in 5th grade this year and Barbara's son is being redistricted to ML.

Fun Fair - Natalie Kindrick is chairing this year, but we'll lose her next year - again, redistricting. Natalie is doing a fantastic job this year with organizing the Fun Fair, which will be held on June 1st, so if you think you might be interested in chairing this next year, please consider helping this year as well!

Foreign Language Enrichment Program - Alyce Outlaw has done this for that past 5 (or more?) years. Alyce's daughter is being redistricted to Brownsville.

Teacher Appreciation - Barbara Congdon does this as well. This involves coming up with ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week (usually the 1st week in May), and carrying through the ideas. We also have been providing drinks for the monthly faculty meetings.

Students Make a Difference Day - Again - Barbara Congdon

Student Birthday Celebrations - We're losing Beth McGrath, another wonderful volunteer who has been part of Crozet School for many years. Beth's daughter is in 5th grade this year.

Crozet Eagle communications - Tammy Dance-Skinner, who both initiated the Crozet Eagle electronic newsletter and has maintained the listserv and sent messages for the past few years, has a son in 5th grade this year.

The above are just the areas I identified for which we're losing valuable parental support. As you can see, most of these parents have children that are affected by redistricting. One of the reasons that Crozet School is so wonderful is because of the many, many volunteer hours these parents have put in over the years, not just for their own children, but for all of our children. Please consider volunteering to help keep Crozet School what it has become over the years - a great place for growing, learning, and connecting!

Other areas that we always need help with (either chairing or helping):

*        Beautification

*        Box Tops

*        Gift Wrap Fundraiser

*        Spaghetti Supper

*        Student Directory

* Yearbook (helping the Yearbook Advisor; taking pictures)

*        Arts & Crafts Expo

*        Family Game Night

*        Kindergarten Potluck

Please be thinking about what you are willing to do to help next year and let me know ASAP. If you have questions, please contact me. I can be reached by email, or by phone at 823-6015 or 243-5985 (w).

Thanks!

Patty Marbury

PTO President
