Two Crozet Fifth Graders Nominated For Summer Learning Adventure
Adeline Sandridge and Samantha Maupin, have been nominated by their teachers to attend the National Young Scholars Program (NYSP) this summer in Chevy Chase, MD.
Adeline and Samantha have each selected a strand of study that they are excited about studying in July. Samantha has chosen Crime Scene Investigation and Adeline has selected Medicine. Each will also be a part of the Leadership strand of study. Strands are developed and designed as fully interactive adventures which take young scholars far beyond the typical classroom experience and invigorate the natural curiosity that is the gift of childhood.
In order to attend, Adeline and Samantha are working hard to raise $1,970 in sponsorships. That is the amount it costs for each of them to attend the 6-day residential program. The two fifth graders have been contacting area businesses, family members and friends for sponsorship donations. They also plan to be at the Crozet Farmer’s Market Saturdays in May and June selling homegrown vegetables and baked goods. Please come out and support them!
