[CrozetEagle] 5th grade gift donations

If you would like to help the fifth graders reach their goal please read on... 



Each year the 5th grade class presents the school with a parting gift, one that will be a reminder of that class for years to come. This year, a very unique opportunity for a meaningful gift has come our way. One of our 5th graders, Drew Barbour’s, relative Lewis Sandridge worked at the old Crozet School across the street and was given the original school bell many years ago (which may date back to before 1900). The family is now giving the bell back to the school for us to refurbish and hang over the front porch of our school as the 5th grade gift! There will be a plaque hung on the wall under the bell to commemorate the gift and its historical significance. 

Drew is also Paula White’s grandson. She and Kelly-Ann Rayle have done much research to determine what would be required to make this a reality: 

The total cost will be approximately $1000.00. 

The engineering and installation costs for hanging the bell will be donated. 

Private donations have already been offered. 

The kids have planned some fundraising events (car wash, bake sale and LP to MP3 conversion) with a goal of raising $200.00, details coming. 

The school has agreed to match their $200.00. 

The remaining $500.00 will need to be donated by the 5th grade families. 

This is in line with the class gift donations from previous years. If each of the 61 5th grade families donate an amount with which they are comfortable, this goal should be easily reached. What a cool legacy for our children!
