Since 2001, the Ivy Community has been working to stop the arrival of heavy
industry in the Ivy Business Park. We had a major victory in that effort
last month when the Planning Commission rejected Faulconer Construction's
final site plan. In their rejection, the scale of Faulconer's heavy
equipment, among other things, was cited as a public safety concern for the
area around Morgantown Road.
Faulconer has appealed the site plan's rejection to the Board of
Supervisors. That's where you come in... The people of Ivy, and all in
Albemarle who want to see our zoning code enforced and due process prevail,
must once again make themselves seen and heard, this time before the Board
of Supervisors.
The Supervisors should uphold the Planning Commission's rejection of the
final site plan.
Faulconer's appeal is this Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00PM in the County
Office Building Auditorium. Arrive early to sign up for a 3 minute speaking
slot during public comment!
The Supervisors have never had to review this site plan before, so we need
to educate them clearly about our many concerns. Even if you do not want to
speak before the board, just being there says volumes and you can stand up
to show your support for various speakers. Bring the whole family and teach
your children about the importance of community involvement!
You can reach all the Supervisors at this email address: bos at albemarle.org
Thanks to all of you who have been involved with the many previous hearings.
We ALL hope this will be the one that puts this project to rest.
