The following letter was sent by Vic Dandridge to the Board of Supervisors
and the Planning Commission about the Faulconer project. With his
permission, I am sharing it because we could sure use some more of these!
The public hearing starts at 6PM tomorrow, September 7th at the County
Office Building. Come early to sign up to speak and to join the rally
against heavy industry from 5-6PM in front of the County offices.

Subject: Faulconer Construction Request
Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and Albemarle County Planning
Commission:
I am writing to you to regarding the upcoming Faulconer Construction site
plan meeting for the Ivy Business Park property on Morgantown Road.
I travel Morgantown Road on a daily basis to take my children to school at
Murray. I do not know how many of you have had the occasion to travel on
this road but I would like to encourage you to do so before you make your
decision. I encourage you to come watch two school buses going in opposite
directions to try and pass each other (which is very difficult) or simply a
large SUV and a school bus pass each other. Adding large scale construction
vehicle traffic (just one vehicle is too many mind you) will increase the
danger for the children and others traveling on this road. Morgantown Road
is simply not wide enough to accommodate the type of traffic that the mere
presence of Faulconer will add to an already heavily traveled road.
Additionally, the congestion caused at the 250 intersection of Morgantown
and Owensville will not be well served with the additional traffic,
particularly as it relates to the patience and time required to turn onto
250 in the morning by placing large, slow moving construction traffic in the
area.
I urge you to strongly consider the inability of Morgantown Road to handle
this type of increased traffic. I would also say that you are doing all of
your constituents a disservice and endangering the lives of people if you
choose to approve this request without going and viewing various vehicle
patterns on Morgantown Road.
Thank you for your time.
Victor M. Dandridge III
