I am writing to let you know that Mr. Don Vale will become the Division's Executive Director for Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology, effective July 1st, 2006. Mr. Vale's interest in division-level work, his success at Henley, and his leadership among schools in the western part of the county, make him an excellent choice for this position.
Mr. Vale's appointment by the School Board created a vacancy at Henley. I am pleased to let you know that Dr. Anne Coughlin has been appointed Principal of Henley Middle School. Dr. Coughlin has served as Principal and Assistant Principal of Western Albemarle High School for 16 years and has held various positions at the Albemarle County Central Office. She has been a high school teacher of English, Reading, and French for 12 years in various districts. Dr. Coughlin expressed an interest in the Henley position when Mr. Vale's appointment was announced.
Dr. Coughlin holds a B.S. in English and French from Radford College, a M. A. in Linguistics from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Educational Curriculum and Instruction, Administration and Supervision, and Social Foundations of Education from the University of Virginia. She has also served on many committees in Albemarle County and has taught in the Division of Continuing Education for the University of Virginia and Longwood College. She is looking forward to continued excellence for all at Henley Middle School.
Sincerely,
Pamela R. Moran
Superintendent of Schools
