School Board Meeting

The Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute (CEPI) will present
results of the Resource Utilization Study to the School Board for the
first time on Thursday, Dec. 6. The CEPI team will present the report
during the School Board meeting in the Albemarle County Office
Building-McIntire in Lane Auditorium at 7:15 p.m.

The comprehensive study was conducted with the intent of identifying
ways the School Division can improve use of resources to help achieve
the strategic plan. The CEPI team reviewed financial, human,
programmatic, facility and other resources during the past few months
and has prepared a report and recommendations. The presentation to
the School Board on Thursday is informational and no decisions will
be made on recommendations. There will be a process for studying the
recommendations before the School Board acts upon them.

The Resource Utilization Study is expected to help develop a planned,
organized and systemic approach to applying the School Division
resources in the most effective way to accomplish the Division mission.

SCA Canned Food Drive

The SCA collected 4,445 cans!! Local families in need were invited
to come to Henley and take some of those 4,445 cans. The remainder
of cans will be given to a local food bank.

Extreme Journey Through Hallowed Ground High School Camp (Middle
School Camp Information Coming Soon!)

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground is a trip along Route 15/20 from
Gettysburg in Pennsylvania to Monticello in Charlottesville Virginia.
Explore historic places on and near this historic route, the Old
Carolina Road, a scenic and historically rich landscape that has
"soaked up more of the blood, sweat, and tears of American history
than any other part of the country," according to the late historian
C. Vann Woodward.
The Journey Through Hallowed Ground (JTHG) is dedicated to sharing
the story of our American heritage with students within the Journey's
region and across the nation. This is the birthplace of many of our
nation's leaders, and it is our goal to share their stories and
contibutions with students of all ages.

JTHG along with the University of Virginia SEP program is excited to
announce the first annual Extreme Journey High School Camp for rising
ninth through eleventh graders. The dates for the residential camp
are June 22 - July 3. (Full scholarships are available.)

Bike the C&O canal, hike Harpers Ferry, canoe Ball’s Bluff and travel
back in time to Montpelier, Monticello, Ash Lawn and Dodona Manor
guided by historical experts and writings from our nation’s most
revered leaders
Residential program at the University of Virginia that promises
academic challenge as students develop leadership and critical
thinking skills.
