[HenleyMatters] Tax Rate and Budget

First I would like to thank those of you who attended the Board of  
Supervisors public hearing on Wednesday, March 7th.  Following the  
public comment portion of the meeting each member of the Board of  
Supervisors shared some thoughts about the tax rate that I found  
quite interesting.  You can listen to a podcast of the entire public

7.  I must warn you that it is a lengthy recording.  The meeting did  
not adjourn until 10:30 PM.   The discussion took place during the  
last half hour of the meeting.  They are planning to look at what  
impact a tax cut of up to $0.07 would have on the overall budget.   
The plan is to look at this in stages.  For example what would a  
$0.02 cut look like versus $0.03 and so on.  Every $0.01 decrease in  
the tax rate could result in a reduction of up to $960,000 to the  
School Board's proposed budget.  You can look at the 07/08 Recommeded

In 2006, the Board of Supervisors adopted the '07-'10 Strategic Plan  
for Albemarle County.  You can view the entire Strategic Plan at

department=sp&sp=main.  Goal One of the Strategic Plan is to Enhance  
Quality of Life for all Citizens.  On page 5, you will find "World  
Class Education System" under Goal One.  It states: "The citizens of  
Albemarle have identified education as the community's number one  
priority."

The Board of Supervisors will be making some critical decisions.   
Please do not miss this opportunity to share your thoughts with the
