Emergency School Closing Information
To find Emergency School Closing Information:
1) The School Division's hotline can be accessed 24-hours a day by
calling (434) 296-5886.
2) Subscribe to receive email notifications of school closings at
http://www.k12albemarle.org/closings. Click the Subscribe to this
page link at the top of the page. You can also use this link to
check school closing information if you do not wish to subscribe.
3) Check with local television and radio stations for the latest
information on school closings.
Once it is determined that the majority of the roads are safe for
school bus travel after a shutdown due to winter weather, the public
will be alerted through the media, beginning at noon on the day
before school is to re-open. Parents who believe their particular
road still presents an unacceptable safety hazard are encouraged to
contact the Transportation Department at (434) 973-5716. Calls will
be taken until 9:00 p.m. on the evening before school is to reopen
and again starting at 6:00 a.m. the next day. School bus drivers will
contact parents of students residing on any road still identified by
the department as unsafe in an attempt to work out alternative
arrangements.
Albemarle Schools Budget TELE-TOWN HALL Meeting
The Albemarle County School Board will host its first TeleTown Hall
Meeting on Wednesday January 16, 2008 at 7pm. The TeleTown Hall will
focus on the School Division budget development process for the
2008-2009 school year. Albemarle County parents and community
members can participate in the TeleTown Hall in the comfort of their
own homes. In a TeleTown Hall, residents receive an automated phone
call to their homes. A recorded message invites residents to join the
TeleTown Hall by pressing a keypad on their phones. Residents can
listen and can ask questions of presenters. The TeleTown Hall is part
of the School Boards efforts to build public understanding of the
budget development process and increase public participation.

Cloth Grocery Bags
Cloth grocery bags, with the words in green, "Neither, thank you."
and then a little word "Green" with a picture of the Henley Hornet,
are now available. They have an 8" deep base to hold lots of
groceries. You can stop and get these in the office or the library,
with cash or checks made out to J.T. Henley Middle School, with
"Recycling" in the Memo. Great for gifts, or for holding gifts. A
small profit goes to helping our students promote recycling and
energy conservation at Henley. The cost is $5.00.
Thanks for supporting this program!
