ORCHESTRA NEWS--HELP NEEDED:

Our orchestra program has been chosen to host this year's Junior Regional
Orchestra event at Albemarle High. The JRO is made up of students in grades
7-9 and students are accepted by audition from our region, which is made up
of the Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Shenandoah, and Harrisonburg
areas. Each year, the event is hosted in a different part of the region to
make it fair for everyone having to travel.

Hosting the event will be an honor but also a huge task for us. The event
this year will be the weekend of March 20-21 and we will be inviting 120
orchestra students from all over the region to AHS. With that comes the
responsibility of supplying these students with overnight housing (not to
mention 3 meals and rehearsal space).

For years, JRO students have been placed overnight with volunteer "host
families." It has proven to be a great experience for the students as well
as the families hosting them. If you are able and willing to host a couple
of our guest students this March please let me know. It will only be for
the evening of Friday, March 20. You will be asked to pick up your guests
at AHS around 8:30pm and return them Saturday morning by 9am. They will
have already eaten dinner Friday but would probably enjoy a small breakfast
Saturday morning. The students are always sent to host families in at least
a pair of two and you may choose the gender that best suits your family. If
you are able to host more than two students that can be arranged as well.

If you have questions before making a commitment to this please don¹t
hesitate to contact me. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you
may have.

If you are able and willing to do this for us please send me an email with
the below information. We so appreciate your generosity as will our guests.

Sincerely,

Carrie Finnegan, cfinnegan at k12albemarle.org
