Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Meriwether Lewis PTO we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the
Granatas, a former Meriwether family from 1997 and 2003.  We are sad to share with you that
Father, Kevin, was killed tragically at Virginia Tech on Monday. Kevin was a engineering professor
at Virginia Tech and worked at UVa while they lived here in Charlottesville. He was considered one
of the top biomechanics researchers in the country and was a very loving and active father. His
wife Linda was also a well-loved and active mother here at Meriwether Lewis, including Cub Scout
Master among many other community contributions.

For those of you who would like to send Linda, and their three children Ellen, Eric and Alex your
well wishes and thoughts at this difficult time, please feel free to sign the card posted on the
PTO Information Board by Friday, April 27th.
