Paper Bag Collection:

The paper bag collection is continuing!  The Emergency Food Bank is in need of paper grocery
bags.  Just take your standard, good-condition bags, fold them neatly and put into another bag.
The collection box is in the front lobby.

School Board Meeting:

At our Thursday, February 8th meeting, the School Board will be discussing the following important
items:
* Proposed Changes to the High School Program of Studies
* 2007–2008 School Division Calendar

You can review the agenda materials on these items via this link:

Kroger Gift Cards:

Did you know???
Our school earns over $300 A MONTH from the Kroger Gift Card Program?
Between 15 and 18 Meriwether Lewis families/staff each month use a Kroger Gift card to buy
groceries. This team of people is setting new earnings records this year, as more people are
using cards more consistently than ever! What if we had just 15-18 MORE participants each
month??? Pretty soon we would eliminate the need for other fundraisers!!! ...or else have a HUGE
PTO BUDGET!!! Would you PLEASE consider joining our team? All you need to do is request a gift
card by emailing Angie Murphy at angiemurphy3 at gmail.com. Then you are on your way to earning our
school more dollars to pay for teacher's assistants, new equipment like smart boards and
computers, and who knows what else!!! It is EASY and WORTH IT! There's even a brand-spankin'-new
Kroger at Barracks Road for you to try out with the gift card program!

Don't worry:
You can still earn credit card points by using your credit card to load your gift card!
Get YOUR gift card today!!!

Enrichment Zone:

Due to enormous response, Marvelous Mondays, Terrific Tuesdays and Robotics are Closed. Thank you
for your interest in the Enrichment Zone. We will try to schedule more classes in the Spring.

Thanks again to the Pasta Night co-chairs Becky Guercio and Mike Giovanoli. Over 330 people
attended the dinner and tasted the wonderful Italian food prepared by Mike. Also, a big thank you
to Sysco for donating the food. We are truly grateful.

Also, a big thank you to Scott and Mark Neisser for co-chairing the Talent Show. They as well as
the many talented children who participated in the show did an outstanding job. A good time was
had by all. Thanks for making the event so special.

Bingo Night:

On Friday March 9th , MLS will hold its 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Family BINGO NIGHT. Volunteers
are needed to donate new or gently used prizes, mostly for the kids but a few for the playing
adults. Some examples could be: gently used toys, games, books or new items that will never be
used, or free merchandise coupons (ice cream, restaurants/tickets, coffee), vases, scarves,
obscure kitchen items.

This is a great AND easy way to volunteer, just drop off your items in the Bingo box outside the
MLS office by no later than February 16th. Please indicate if the item is new or used.

Volunteering or questions, contact bingo chair: Jennifer Bryerton 244-3527 or
Jennifer at AlbemarleFamily.com Thank you all for your support and help. We're looking forward to a
fabulous event!

Box Tops:

Please don't forget to clip and send in those box tops. The next deadline for submission is
February 22. This is the last one for this school year. You may also go to their web site
www.boxtops4education.com, log on and register, get recipes and coupons, and shop on-line at the
Market Place. We earn a percent of your total purchase. Here is a small list of participating
retaliers: JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, Lands End, Nordstroms, OldNavy, Overstock.com.
Thank you for your time, energy, and commitment to this easy fund raiser.

Yearbook:

It's not too late to get your copy of the yearbook. We have ordered fewer books this year due to a
smaller student body and because there were unsold books last year, so don't wait. Send in a check
to MLS PTO Yearbook for $18.00, include your child's name and name of his/her teacher.

Giant Cards:

Giant cards still available. You buy a gift card for $100.00 and receive $100.00, and the school
get $4.00 free money. Adds up quick! $300.00 a month is $12 X 9 months and that's $108.00!
Multiply that by 200 Meriwether families, and we can make over $21,000.00. Please contact Angela
Sawyer at aasawyer6 at aol.com or 296-1956 for more information.
