Rollerskating Night for grades K-2 is January 19. Mark your calendar!
Talent Show Sign Ups:

Parents can pick up at 4:00
Come either day to show us your act to be a part of the MLS Talent Show
Please bring your signed permission slip and any props or music you will be using.
Please keep your act to 3min. or less.

Paper Bag Collection:
The paper bag collection is continuing! The Emergency Food Bank is in need of paper grocery
bags. Just take yourstandard, good- condition bags,fold them neatly and put into another bag.
The collection box is in the front lobby.
Pasta Night/Talent Show:
Friday February 2
Dinner at 5:30 pm, Talent Show at 7:00 pm
$5/adult $4/child with paid reservations by Friday, Jan. 26th
Limited tickets available at door for $6/adult and $5/child

Baby guinea pig to good home for $5.00 which will be donated to the SPCA.
Mrs. F. Sadler's class guinea pig (Checkers) had two babies and one is still available and is
weaned, hand raised, and ready for a good home. The guinea pig's name is GB and it has brown and
white curls and it will be a smaller sized adult.

"SPRING INTO ART"
UVa Art Museum Classes for MLS Grades 1st-3rd
(Saturday Classes from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.)
The UVa Art Museum welcomes the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade Meriwether
Lewis Elementary School students and their parents/caregivers for a
Saturday morning art program, Spring Into Art 2007.
Spring Into Art will be held from 10:00 am to noon on five alternating
Saturdays at the UVa Art Museum on Rugby Rd.
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 5:00 pm

Burley to Host College and Career Planning Night :
Parents of middle and elementary school students wondering how to help their children get into
college and the career of their choice will be able to hear from a number of experts from across
the community on College and Career Planning Night, Thursday, January 18, from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m.
at Burley Middle School located on Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville.
The event is sponsored by the Burley Middle School Parent Teacher Organization. This Program is
directed toward the parents of students in 4th 8th grade.
Presentations on topics such as Work Readiness Skills, Financing Education Beyond High School,
Section 529 Savings, Overview of Career Education in Middle School, Be Your Child's Career Coach,
and more.

Budget Development Calendar Finalized:
A timeline for development of the school system's 2007-08 budget is available on the county school
website www.k12albemarle.org . Superintendent Pam Moran will present her funding request to the
School Board on Wednesday, January 17th . The Superintendents funding request, as well as a
podcast of her presentation of it to the School Board, will be available for public review on-line
at www.k12albemarle.org starting Thurs., January 18. The School Boards Budget Public Hearing is
scheduled for January 31 at 6 p.m. in the County Office Building on McIntire in Lane Auditorium.
Parent Input Requested on 2007-08 School Year Calendar Options:
Three options for a 2007-08 school year calendar have been created. The School Division seeks
parent feedback on the options. The three options are posted on the School Division website at
www.k12albemarle.org. Click on the Review and Comment on the Proposed 2007-08 Calendar link to
see the options and complete the on-line feedback form. This is your opportunity to register your
opinion, please take a moment to comment !
