Skate Night:
The first skate night will be this Friday, September 28th for grades 3-5, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
Mark your calendars!
Spiritwear Deadline Extended:
The order deadline for MLS Spiritwear has been extended until next Friday, September 28. If you
have questions, contact Gwen Goodkin at 984-4649 or goodkingw at aol.com.
Enrichment Zone:
Check the backpack mail for information on this fall's enrichment zone classes! Theater, art,
language classes, and more!
Mr. White at the Paramount:
Mr. Kevin White, member of the popular band "Big Ray and the Kool Kats", will be appearing in
Charlottesville on Friday, September 28th at the Paramount theater.
The event is "Tribute to the King". Matt Lewis, direct from the "Legends" show in Las Vegas will
perform an Elvis Presley tribute concert with the Kool Kats band as backup.
Tickets are available on line or at the box office on the downtown mall.
Budget Forum:
How do you feel about the School Board's use of funding for our students' achievement? You have
two opportunities to share your thoughts with the Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute of
VCU, which is conducting a study for our School Board. Parents are encouraged to let their voices
be heard.
Tuesday, September 25 from 6-7pm in the Cale Elementary School Cafeteria (1757 Avon Street
Extended)
Wednesday, September 26 from 6-7pm in the Sutherland Middle School Cafeteria (2801 Powell Creek
Drive)

Calling All Cultures!
The annual Fall Festival of Cultures will be held Friday, October 19th from 6-8 p.m. We are
looking for Meriwether families who would like to share their cultures through food, crafts, games
and performances. If you could share a traditional craft or game, if you know a dance troupe,
musician, or storyteller, if you can provide a sample of your regional cuisine, or if you have
another way you'd like to help celebrate the diversity of cultures at Meriwether Lewis please
contact Mary Dutta at mbdutta at comcast.net. We also have many volunteer opportunities for the
event, so please let us know if you can help make the evening a success.

Advertise items for sale, services, and announcements
in the MERIWETHER LEWIS MARKETPLACE, published the
third Friday of each month with WETHERVANE. No item
too small when it's FREE! Deadline for submission is the
third Monday of each month.
