[MeriwetherMatters] Schools Budget Update April 1, 2008

[MLS Matters]

MLS PARENTS:
   
  Thank you for your past support and participation in the budget funding process for Albemarle County Public Schools.  The Board of Supervisors has "advertised" a potential real estate tax rate of $0.71 per $100.  As a result of the Board's advertised rate, the School Board was able to include several funding initiatives in its proposed budget which would GREATLY  BENEFIT  MLS.
   
  Benefits to MLS include:
    
     increasing our  LITERACY SPECIALIST  time at MLS
  
     providing a  MATH  SPECIALIST to MLS
  
     increasing TECHNOLOGY  SUPPORT to teachers
  
     professional development support for TEACHERS
  
     increasing intervention and prevention support 

  The Board of Supervisors will hold its FINAL public hearing regarding the tax rate tomorrow, Wednesday the 2nd, and Parent Council and Albemarle Education Association will provide pizza/sides/drinks at 5:30pm in the room directly across from the Auditorium:

  6:00pm (register to speak beginning at 5:00pm)
  Lane Auditorium, County Office Building
  Public Hearing Regarding Tax Rate, Board of Supervisors
   
  Please take a moment to contact the Board of Supervisors right now!  MLS would benefit from the Board's advertised $0.71 tax rate, and they need to hear from you.  The Board will decide upon its tax rate on April 9th, they can decide to set it at $0.71 or below.  A tax rate below $0.71 will jeopardize these potential MLS benefits.
