MLS Art Fundraiser
Our children have been creating artwork in class for the MLS Art Fundraiser (Thanks to Mr.
Sherogan and our wonderful parent volunteers). Packets containing your child's artwork will come
home via backpack mail on February 28th!
The deadline for orders is March 6th. All orders will be returned to you well before Mothers Day.
Feel free to visit the display case in the MLS lobby for product samples.
Please note that you may substitute art from home but all art must be 8" x 10 1/2". If you need
extra paper, we will have some at the front desk or you can use your own paper and cut it to these
dimensions.
For questions, please contact Art Fundraiser Co-Chairs:
Michelle Goodrich @ 979-1420 (Michelle at embarqmail.com)
or Kim Crater @ 296-4764 (Kim at ths85.net)
Food Services Information:
Regarding the latest beef recall of products manufactured through Hallmark/Westland Meat Company,
Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) did not receive any of the products in question. In case of
recalls, the Child Nutrition Program has a system in place to track the food products received by
ACPS. All ACPS cafeterias follow procedures to ensure sanitation and safety while receiving,
storing, handling and preparing food items. Please contact Christina Pitsenberger, ACPS Director
of Food Services, at (434) 295-0566 with any questions or concerns.
ATTENTION MLS PARENTS COMMITTED TO STRONG PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
Thank you for your efforts in support of funding for education during last Tuesday's Board of
Supervisors public forum about the budget. 29 speakers spoke in favor of education funding, and 4
spoke against the issue. MLS had a great showing of parents, teachers, and administrators. Mary
Spencer and Mary Huffard Kegley Scott spoke to the Board about the importance of funding for
education.
Your contact to Board of Supervisors is imperative for them to know MLS parents care and do not
want our education budget slashed, resulting in potential fees for school bus transportation,
increased class sizes, loss of quality teachers, and the list could go on and on. We should learn
more during the coming week regarding the Board of Supervisors budget plans.
In the meantime, PLEASE send an email to:
bos at albemarle.org in support of education funding.
ALL members of the Board of Supervisors will receive your email if you send one email to this
address.

TWO MORE PUBLIC HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED BEFORE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 6:00PM - Lane Auditorium, County Office Building
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 6:00PM - Lane Auditorium, County Office Building
We need your help to share the message of education funding with our Board of Supervisors!
