SCHOOL BOARD PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE BUDGET
  Tuesday night, January 29th - tomorrow !
  Monticello High School Auditorium
  6:30pm public hearing begins
4:30pm registration to speak begins in the Auditorium

Our Superintendent presented the School Board with a proposed $152.9 million budget in December (this included $800,000 in unfunded initiatives, such as Specialty Center Research & Development, i.e. IB, math specialists, alternative education programs). It is a "lean" proposal at best, according to our School Board Chairman Brian Wheeler. NOW, however, the rapidly changing state and local revenues require reductions in her previously proposed budget.

Please take a moment to review Brian Wheeler's message he posts on his independent School Matters website: www.wheeleronboard.com, click SchoolMatters newsletters, the article is dated January 26, 2008.
Brian Wheeler provides helpful budget figures that demonstrate our need for your input in the budget process.

After Tuesday night's public hearing, the School Board will begin the difficult process of adjusting/reducing it for presentation to the Board of Supervisors.

The School Board needs to hear from parents, teachers, students, about what is important to their education.

Dr. Moran's budget presentation is available for review on the County Schools Website:
  www.k12albemarle.org
follow the School Board link, Budget Information link, Proposed Funding Request link (includes the Superintendent's power point budget presentation to the School Board December 19th).
