Dear Murray Families:

The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be held tonight Wednesday, March
8th starting at 6:00 p.m. at MONTICELLO HIGH SCHOOL in the Auditorium (1400
Independence Way).

This meeting will be devoted to a public hearing to receive comments on the
County Executive's FY 2006/2007 Recommended Budget. It is critical that
there be a strong presence from the county schools to demonstrate support
for full funding of public education. It is at this hearing that everyone
who wants their fair share of the county budget "pie" is in attendance -
including those who question or criticize the amount of resources devoted to
educational funding (the County Executive's proposed budget includes $138
million for the School Division, a $15m or 12.2% increase over the current
budget; the budget for the School Division represents 53% of the total
proposed county budget). So, we cannot afford to be complacent. Whether or
not you choose to offer comments at the hearing, your attendance is
important.

Although the county's announcement of the hearing did not specify this,
typically the sign-ups for those who wish to speak begins at 5:00 pm but may
begin as early at 4:00 pm. The earlier you sign up the earlier you speak.
Speakers will have 3 minutes.

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to share your thoughts with
the Board of Supervisors you wil find the six members of (and contact info
for) the Board of Supervisors listed at:
http://www.albemarle.org/department.asp?department=bos&relpage=1944. If you
wish to email the entire Board, the address is bos at albemarle.org.
