Albemarle County Seeks Parents, Community Members
for Two Division Advisory Committees

Parent and
community representatives are invited to apply to serve on two Albemarle
County Public Schools advisory groups. Representatives are sought for the
School Health Advisory Board and the Long-Range Planning Committee.

Applications for both advisory groups are available online at
www.k12albemarle.org <http://www.k12albemarle.org/> under the
School Board link. Applications also are available from the School Board
Office in Room 345 of the Albemarle County Office Building at 401 McIntire
Road in Charlottesville. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on
Friday, Jan. 11, 2007. Applications can be faxed to (434) 296-5869 or
mailed to the Albemarle County School Board to the attention of Jennifer
Johnston at 401 McIntire Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

The
School Health Advisory Board is charged to meet at least four times a year
and to annually report to the School Board on the status of school health
education and services in each of the division's schools. The report also
includes an assessment of health needs of school-aged children in the
school division and may include recommendations designed to address the
needs identified in this process. Applications are being accepted for
representatives from the Rio, Rivanna, Scottsville, White Hall, At-Large
magisterial districts and an "Other Health Professional"
position.

The Long-Range Planning Committee is accepting
applications for membership from the Jouett, Rivanna, Scottsville, White
Hall, and At-Large magisterial districts. The Committee will analyze
enrollment trend data, population growth trends, building capacities,
staffing standards and other relevant information to develop
recommendations for the School Board concerning facility needs for the
Capital Improvement Program. One member of the Committee serves on any
redistricting committee that is convened.
