Budget Hearing Tonight
Please remember that you have an opportunity to comment on the school budget
request at a School Board public hearing scheduled tonight, February 9, at
6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the County Office Building. Each school has
been challenged to have at least 10 representatives at the meeting tonight,
so please make every effort to be there. The primary component of this year
’s budget proposal is to complete the process for increasing teacher
compensation. This is very important as Albemarle County Schools try to
retain and recruit top-quality teachers.
Citizens wishing to speak to the Board may sign up beginning at 5:30 p.m. in
the Auditorium. Speakers will have up to three minutes to address the Board.
However, citizens representing established organizations may have up to ten
minutes to speak by calling the School Board Clerk's office at (434)
972-4055 to request the additional time. This request must be made by 5:00
p.m. on Tuesday, February 8.
Citizens unable to attend the hearing who would like to submit a written
statement to the Board may do so at any time through the Clerk's office by
fax at (434) 296-5869 or by e-mail at jjohnston at albemarle.org.
Questions about the hearing may be directed to the Clerk's office by calling
(434) 972-4055.
