March Meeting Postponed
The Parent Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 1st, has been
postponed until Tuesday, March 8th.
School Board Meeting Postponed
The School Board meeting originally scheduled for February 24 has again been
postponed until March 7th.  The agenda for this meeting includes the Middle
School Program Review and Scheduling Considerations and a Redistricting
Update.  Both of these agenda items will be subject to public comment.
Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
Please remember that the public hearing for the Board of Supervisors to
review the proposed school budget is scheduled for March 9th at the County
Office Building Auditorium, beginning at 6 P.M.  Sign-ups to speak will
begin at 5:00 P.M.  Parent Council has reserved Room 235 from 5 to 10 P.M.
for Parent Council members and guests.  Remember that we are challenging
Parent Council representatives to have at least 10 people attend from their
school!

1.  7:00 - 7:10pm         Welcome and Old Business:  Approval of minutes to
January 4th meeting; other Old Business, if any - Chip Deale

2.  7:10 - 7:20pm         New Business:
A.      Volunteers needed for 3-person Nominating Committee to develop slate
of proposed Parent Council officers for 2005-06
B.     April 12th meeting topic options:  “Bullying/School Climate” (Del.
Bell’s legislation & others on topic) or “Profiles in Education Excellence”
(panel of Golden Apple &/or Shannon Foundation honorees describing their
award-winning initiatives) or other topic(s) of interest to attendees

3.  7:20 - 7:40pm         Superintendent’s Report: Key issues such as
redistricting, school hours, budget approval, etc. – Dr. Kevin Castner

4.  7:40 - 8:45pm         Program Presentations:
A. 7:40 – 8:00pm         Alliance for Community Choice in Transportation (
www.transportationchoice.org <http://www.transportationchoice.org/> ) “Safe
Routes to School” Program – Linda Kobert, Coordinator
B. 8:00 – 8:45pm        Parent/Family Involvement: Effective outreach
practices, programs, successes & problems – Miriam Rushfinn, Director, The
Parent Center ( www.theparentcenter.org <http://www.theparentcenter.org/> )

5.  8:45 - 9:00pm         Good & Welfare: An opportunity for attendees to
share thoughts, comments, ideas or opinions on any Parent Council, school or
general education-related topic.

6.  9:00pm                   Adjourn until April 12th.  Enjoy spring break!
