Free Workshop for Parents on "504" Plans for Students with Unique Needs 

 

Parents are invited to attend a free workshop on November 17, 2005  titled  "The 4-1-1 on 504 Plans" and presented by Howard Kallem and David Berkowitz of the United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights. 

 

The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Albemarle Resource Center, 1200 Forest Street in Charlottesville. Refreshments will be served. 

 

The workshop will explain the nuts and bolts of a 504 plan, a vehicle for accommodating students with unique needs such as attention or learning difficulties, or health impairments. The term "504 plan" refers to the federal law that protects the rights of students that have needs that require accommodations but don't qualify for Special Education services at schools receiving federal funds.  

 

The workshop is coordinated by the PREP/Parent Resource Center. Parents are asked to sign-up to attend the workshop by calling the PREP/Parent Resource Center at (434) 975-9400, ext. 2342, or by e-mailing to sblech at k12albemarle.org. 

 

Class of 2006 Graduation Dates Announced

 

Albemarle County Public Schools has announced the graduation dates for the Class of 2006. Graduation dates are as follows: 

 

*	Albemarle High School: June 6, 2006 at 6 p.m. in U Hall on the University of Virginia campus at the intersection of Alderman and Massie Roads 

 

*	Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC): June 1, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center, 1400 Melbourne Road in Charlottesville 

 

*	Monticello High School: June 10, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in the Monticello High Stadium at 1400 Independence Way in Charlottesville 

 

*	Murray High School: June 7, 2006 at 6 p.m. in the Burley Middle School Auditorium, 901 Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville 

 

*	Western Albemarle High School: June 9, 2006 at 8 p.m. at the Western Albemarle High Warrior Stadium, 5941 Rockfish Gap Tpk. in Crozet
