[RRC] RRC Oar Fund Challenge

Dear RRC Members,

    As you may have read in the January 2007 Board Minutes, the Club has received a $500 anonymous challenge gift from one of our Board members.  This gift is earmarked for a new set of Concept 2 sweep oars, a logical step in RRC's overall plan to upgrade our equipment.  This new set of oars will cost $2155 delivered.   The donor has gotten the ball rolling, so we are asking the membership to help meet this challenge.  To date, we have received $1,030 in additional contributions & pledges from 100% of the Board and from other Club members leaving $625 to reach our goal.  Please make your donations (not tax deductible unfortunately) by March 31, 2007, by sending a check payable to Rivanna Rowing Club, P O Box 5797, Charlottesville, Va. 22905.  Please note that the contribution is for the Oar Fund.  A $200 contribution gets your name on an oar!   If we exceed our goal, the additional funds can be used to purchase a set of 4 more oars.

    Let's try to reach our goal by March 31st so we can order and receive our oars by the time the 2007 season begins.
