To the RRC Members List:

Your board of directors has crafted another great season of coached rowing:
--Learn to Row, Novice, and Advanced Sweep
--Intermediate and Learn-to Scull and
--Junior Sweep.

See the website for further details - www.rivannarowing.org.

NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP. Every year the board must draft programs and
hire coaches before anyone signs up to row. Now marketing is crucial
to ensure we can pay our bills. The board has created a full
marketing campaign (print and radio), but we need the help of members
in four areas:

1. Volunteers for Fridays After Five - we plan to take a club single
and the RRC banner on three occasions to Fridays After Five on the
Downtown Mall. It is great visibility and costs us nothing. Pam
Murray has lined up a free space for us on these Fridays - April 13,
20 and 27. Each day we will be there from 5 to 7 pm and need at
least two people for coverage. Please volunteer to help -- and bring
a friend. If you can help, send e mail to jackbrown at virginia.edu

2. Learn-to-Row Day - This year LTR day falls on Saturday May 12.
It is a key marketing event for the club, and we need about 10
volunteers to show our visitors the boathouse, boats, and erg
technique -- and more to take them out in the barge (last year Gia
and Ben Bennett fired up our newbies on the barge). Please volunteer
to help -- and bring a friend. We need volunteers for the 9 to 11 am
session or 11 to 1 pm. If you can help, send e mail to
jackbrown at virginia.edu

3. RRC tee shirts - These will be on sale at the Spring Members
meeting on Sunday April 22 at 5 pm at the boathouse. We have
designed the shirts to help market the club -- in a cool way. So
come with 15 bucks, buy a shirt, and wear it early and often around
town (and at the gym) to spread the RRC word.

4. Talk up rowing. If every RRC member brought one friend into the
club every year or two, we would not need any other marketing. So
please talk up your favorite aerobic, bird-watching, high-speed,
low-impact, maritime endeavor.

Thanks,

Jack

RRC Vice President and Boathouse Captain
